Merry Christmas to all! I've been busy the last two or three days and just caught up with the last 6-8 pages on the thread.
I've been using 7-8.5 watts in RMS (02) mode on my Vamo, with 2.2ohms carto tank, and somewhere around the same when I use the 1.2-1.3ohm RBA (sometimes depending on juice flavors, I up this to 8-10 watts though).
When I hit it hard or multiple times in a row, I can feel the battery get hotter much easier with the lower ohms, so I assume this drains the battery much faster right?
I've had these 18350 battery's get noticeably warm.
Efest IMR 18350 800mAh Flat Top 3.7V Rechargeable LiMn Battery I'm using these single, unstacked. You can feel the heat coming out the vent hole. They don't seem like the best option for the drain that Vamo puts on them. These may be a better option,
High Drain 18350 Battery - *MINI MVari*, but I went with the Efest because these don't seem to be IMR and the drain rate wasn't listed. I've got some of these 18650's,
Efest IMR 18650 HD 2250mAh Battery - Button Top and I really like these. I'm thinking it might be better to stick with anything listed as high drain.
yea if the battery is getting hot it is working hard and draining fast.. i use less watts with low ohms and more with higher ohms.. i vape at 3.9 or 4 when using 1.6 ohm and 5 at 2.2 or higher ohms
I do the same, lower watts with lower ohms. I run 1.6 ohm around 5-6 watts and 2.2 ohm at 7-8 watts. I run stainless wicks on the higher side and silica and cotton on the low side. Stainless wicks are a bit more forgiving so I push them a little harder but I'd rather play it safe with threaded wicks. I don't like going through the cleaning process anymore than I have to. If I could get rid of that metallic taste with stainless that's all I would use. I was thinking about trying a bath in lemon juice but I've worried about the citric acid breaking down the oxidation also. I guess I won't know until I try.....
