I wouldn't trust anyone to wipe it unless I was watching them shred it. (Largely because most places don't.. Just the windows licensing/media becomes a nightmare, much less the time and effort it takes to get it reinstalled, drivers working, etc.. There are stories all the time about even major manufacturers sending refurb/warranty parts out with data on them from the last customer..)
We decided not to donate that old dell laptop...who would want it now after we removed the hard drive and drilled holes through it

It wasn't worth much having such a small amount of RAM etc. These days I'm sure laptops come with at least 1 GB where that old dell had a ridiculously small amount.
