Seems like a long time since I signed up with the ECF and started vaping although it has been just under 9 months actual time. I have learned an incredible amount on this site which in turn had me progressing from little cigalike stick batteries with cartomizers to egos with clearomizers, then vv ego and vivi novas, an MVP1, up to a vamo and an RBA (AGA-t2 - the most frustrating rba in the world), RDA's, and Protanks. Then I started DIY eliquid which is a whole hobby in itself. I did manage to curb my spending for several months and got near my break even and then I went overboard again late November right up until this last monday (about $400 overboard) on kayfuns, a mech, some assorted drippers and, of course, 30A batteries.
For the most part I have tried to be helpful to the new vapors with their questions (some get straight answers and some get a joke (but only if they have gotten a correct answer already). I admit I have had a few rants concerning brand new vapors asking if we can tell them what the resistance is on a subohm coil they built by just looking at a picture of it because they don't want to spend the money to get a meter (or even research what batteries are safe). Of course I did have an issue with the person I was talking to in our new B&M store that had a mech with a quad coil. He was bragging about the giant clouds he likes to blow in public with his subohm build. I asked him what the resistance was and he stated he had no idea because he didn't have anything to check it with. So I of course, offered to check it for him, when he handed me his mech I almost burned my hand on the tube and button. His quad coil metered at .2 ohms and he had 5000mah trust fire battery that felt like it was ready to vent at any moment. He did get a little upset when I asked him to take it outside and leave it in the back of his pickup but started to understand a little when I started to explain battery safety and subohms (at least to my face - but I don't think he will actually change his practices until his battery actually vents in his hand - hopefully he will not be in public when it happens)
I hope everyone understands that I do have a strange sense of humor (nothing is sacred) and do not get offended by it. I am sorry to the people who seem overly concerned about boiling cotton before using it in a coil but have probably smoked a cigarette down to the filter (which is polyester or some type of nasty synthetic material) several times.
I am proud of myself for switching from a 36+ year smoking habit to much less hazardous vaping. I am also proud of everyone here in the ECF for switching also and hopefully we will be able to continue vaping without severe government involvement.
Thank You
Jim
