I burned myself on my toaster oven a couple days ago. We need to ban those. It couldn't possibly be my fault for being careless!
oh, oh, and hot melt glue guns too. I didn't see a warning that told me that the glue would be hot enough to burn fingers  :lol:

Ohh yeah. Years ago was alerted to danger by a screaming granddaughter! She had hot glued a fake fingernail on.

This was the 3rd vaping set up I ever purchased. A $20 Magneto. Inexpensive for sure, but a very decent piece of gear and still gets used almost daily after a year and a half. (Plume Veil in the pic, but I actually bought a Kracken that day. Was my first rebuildable.) I'd only been vaping for about 2 months and was still using a Nautilus on a Spinner. I spent 20 minutes in the shop after I bought it and let the guys show me how to build it and explain Ohm's Law and battery safety to me. Then they pulled out the build they put in it and had me rebuild it in front of them to make sure I didn't do anything stupid. They urged me to buy an ohm meter with it, but I already had a DMM at home, so passed on that.

A responsible vape shop staff will make sure that a newb knows what they are doing rather than just taking the money and pushing them out the door. If ALL vape shops did this, there would be a LOT less bad publicity about vaping. Mechs themselves aren't any more dangerous than a flashlight. Dumb:censored:es using them incorrectly IS a HUGE problem for the vaping industry though.
I still love my magneto! Bought the second version and sold it shortly there after.... Wasn't happy with it at all.

mhmm, I used them for my flashlights for a long time, it wasn't until I bought VTC4's did I realize how bad they actually were, my flashlight instantly got twice as bright :D (Back before I started vaping).
You know you screwed a home made RDA on that flashlight! LOL!

@ruet after reading this whole thread to make sure I had all the info available to comment I think you're right! Mech mods are dangerous if used improperly and I believe they could be made safer somehow! But after getting in major arguments with other "ECF GURUS" and a VAPING GODDESS (@roxynoodle) and having to build really stupid guards for the machines at work (I.E. apron for the pedestal for a grinder to keep people from hitting their head on the base of the grinder! TRUE STORY!). I realized that until we eliminate the "PEOPLE" part of the equation anything can hurt or kill you! By "building" safety into things at work we have a bunch of robots who shut down at the first sign of a problem (I.E. drill bit getting dull) or destroying a machine because they didn't know said drill was dull! I firmly believe in training! But how are the online vendors going to know if a person knows what they're doing? "PEOPLE" are always going to do stupid :censored:! I guess my point is no matter what you do "PEOPLE" are always going to hurt themselves.
P.S. The reason "PEOPLE" is like this throughout the post because I firmly believe that I (and hopefully most if not all of us here on ECF) am a mutant! Because I have to be at least a different breed than the rest of the "PEOPLE" because i still have at least half a brain! LOLOLOLOLOL!:headbang:

Edit: the voices talk faster than i type!

@EverPresentNoob , I'm very happy you were in the right place at the right time and taking the initiative to help this person out. After reading this thread and laughing at some posts a smile came after reading the kid came back to the shop with his friend to get some lessons on safety. Capacity to learn shown......retention level yet to be determined.
