Hi Everyone,

I only really looked into e-cigarettes for the first time yesterday, and after reading online and trying to find reviews and user ratings, I put in an order today for the GreenSmoke starter kit, and am chomping at the bit (or ...., more accurately) to experience an alternative to smoking cigarettes. During my regular pulmonary function tests I have for asthma 3 years ago I found out that I have the very beginnings of emphysema, and I really don't want it to go any further, but I remain intractably addicted to nicotine.

There are so many options available that it's overwhelming. Since from multiple sources I read that GreenSmoke does actually honor its money-back guarantee without a lot of hassle beyond obtaining an RMA from a customer service that can actually be reached and is responsive, I decided to start with this kit, even if it cost way more than I can really afford. I'm willing to pay a bit extra for service with such an unknown. If this brand really is worth the money, I'll have the best I can afford. If not, I get another chance and probably save, I reasoned.

With the "ships within 48 hours" and the 3 business day shipping (as fast as I could afford after paying so much for everything else), I should have my first experience with vaping by a week from today--apparently GreenSmoke also ships on time, which is good because I'm not a very patient person. I find it so frustrating to be waiting even that long. Unfortunately, from the ominous review of this kit I belatedly found here, I may very well be waiting quite a bit longer if I have to ship this back and then order from elsewhere. I hate to think about how many more cigarettes I'm going to have to smoke.

I'm going to miss just going across the street for my nicotine needs. The sheer number of available options is overwhelming, and I plan on reading the reviews on this site while I wait for my kit to arrive. I really hope my experience with actually using it is not as bad as the person reviewing it, because if I have to send it back I'll have to wait for the refund before I can even order a replacement. Squeezing an unexpected extra $150 out of my budget in a pinch like I did for this is not a feat I can afford to repeat next week (even if I order a more average priced kit). This feat included postponing a dentist appointment. My teeth can wait. My lungs really can't.

I'm grateful for this site, which I've been reading a lot today. I'm a bit intimidated about the learning curve involved, so it's good to know that there is a place where I can get information and support. I've read enough here to realize vaping will be different enough from smoking that there will be an adjustment, but I think it will be similar enough that I won't miss the holding and inhaling I've missed from every other way I've tried to quit.

Thank you all for being here.:)

Welcome, Vena! Could I please suggest that you cancel your order for Green Smokes? There are much better e-cigs for a lot less money, trust me. I fell for the Green Smoke, too and I hated them. They're extremely overpriced junk. You can get a Joye 510 or a KR808D-1 starter kit for around $40-50, maybe less if you shop around a bit. Either one will be way more consistent and give you less trouble.

Vena,
I too was very overwhelmed at first. If you cant cancel your greensmoke order dont worry about it. There isnt a single member on this forum that doesnt have a couple of ecigs laying around from early purchases. I want to congratulate you on making your first purchase. Regardless of the first ecig you buy, you will buy another. Just remember that you are making a lifestyle change and 80% of the hard work is the first purchase, so congratulations. Checkout Liberty Flights Riva or Ego when you decide to make another purchase. their kits are around $35 when you click the 20% discount button in the upper left corner. Happy vaping and welcome to our world.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on making the choice of living a healthier lifestyle. I have not personally tried the Green Smokes, but I will attest to the fact that most of the kits out there that cater to new, uninformed vapors are overpriced and not as good as what is available to those who know what they are looking for. I agree with Womanofheart in that if you can cancel your previous order, you should. The kits she recommended are good suggestions. If you are a heavy smoker I might suggest you go with something like the eGo or Riva because the batteries will stay charged longer.

Epiphany is also correct when they say not to worry about it too much if you can't cancel your order. Green Smokes has been around for a while so I'm sure they can't be too bad. It will at least give you an idea of what vaping is like and allow you to either quit smoking or at least cut down on the number of cigarettes you smoke.

Hi Vena, this is my first contact on this site. I'm just trying to figure all this out too. I bought an Encore and now am looking at getting a case for it just to hold all the stuff. I found it's a drag when the batteries die (and you left the other at home). They don't seem to last very long. I'm starting off kinda slow, not smoking at work or car -vaping instead. I think this forum will help a lot, once I learn all the terms. It looks like I might become a mod guy but need to find out what that means. I read one post that talked about the taste, us 'newbies' want that cig replacement tobacco taste, but it sounds like we'll get over it and go for some good stuff like vanilla, etc. Good luck.

With the "ships within 48 hours" and the 3 business day shipping....I'm not a very patient person... I find it so frustrating to be waiting even that long.

I've been searching out e-juice companies that are somewhat local to me (ie. in state, preferably in city). That way, even if I have to pay taxes, I can get the order quicker without paying for UPS/Fedex/Express mail. My first order came from Dallas. I'm in Houston. USPS Priority mail was delivered in 2 days.

While I don't know of any vendors located in/near San Fran, I bet there are quite a few. It would be nice if all of the vendors would place their general location on their site, but shooting off a few emails won't be so difficult.

Good luck.

This might help a bit with finding vendors close by. Most probably won't have a store front, but you can usually call and see if you can pick up an order.

VaporSearch

didn't know vaporsearch existed---good one

can attest that greensmoke is good with refunds...intially bought a crap load of stuff, kit-case-extra batts-cartos....was stocked for months....realized shortly after purchase though wasn't for me and sent back...their policy basically is only kits and batteries can be returned
"You can make a refund request for starter kits purchased on the GreenSmoke.com website through our Customer Service Department, along with shipment of the product to the above indicated address within 30 days from your purchase date. This applies only to starter kits in their original packaging; there is no refund on cartridges, Gold Cases or Carrying Cases".
Green Smoke Return Policy of the electric cigarette

its hard to know how well an e-cig performs when just starting out cause you have nothing to compare with....greensmoke will refund so if cant cancel just puff with them, order an eGo/riva in the meantime and some juices and compare for yourself

fyi....you might even get lucky and get a refund for cartos from greensmoke---wouldn't be first time that happened

cheers

Vena,

Welcome to ECF! I'm a newbie myself and I got a starter kit that was overpriced and horrible but I found this forum and have got a Joye eGo and love it. You are going to love vaping. It has taken away any craving for an analog cigarette and cured me of a horrible habit that I'd had for so many years. Read the vendor reviews and you will find there are so many reputable vendors with great customer service. Hope you have many hours of happy vaping ahead.

If you are not satisfied with the greensmoke when you get it in, as a newbie myself who has been through 3 different kits and brands I'd like to share a little piece of advice that I had to learn the hard way.

There are many diff models and batteries as you know, some with cartomizers, some cartridge/attys, some manual, some automatic, some with fat 'cigar' like batteries and it goes on and on. Each of these different types are someone's favorite, since it really depends on what the user feels is most important to them.

Sadly you can't really get a good idea of what's important to you until you'v actually been vaping for at least a few days, took me over a month. SO recommendations on whether to use cartomizers vs attys or manual versus automatic or stick style versus large batteries is really not going to help a huge amount.

I then found the Joye 510. The 510 comes standard with an atomizer and cartridges. It's a stick style that imitates an analog very well. Here's why I recommend this model to newbies even though I'm one myself: You can buy a ton of accessories for this model VERY cheap and basically with the accessories you can have completely diff kits all in one.

For example, you can buy cartomizers that will fit, if you find you don't like atomizers, you can buy mega (long slim) batteries if you find the short die too quickly for you, you can order a fat (ego or riva) battery if you find you want more life. You can get mega cartridges or cartomizers that hold much more juice.

WIth other models you may not find compatible accessories and therefor if you're not happy with you current model you basically have to start all over. WIth the 510 if your not happy with the battery you can change it for under $20, still keeping your other hardware (chargers, attys, carts and cartomizers). If you're not happy with the atomizers you can buy cartomizers again still keeping all your other hardware, for under $10. and so on.

Basically the 510 kit is basic and then you can buy addon's and accessories to change the whole set up depending on what you find your personal likes/dislikes are. I initially bought a 2 piece cartomizer style to find out I personally don't like cartos even though most ppl seem too. I wanted a stick style which I still want but realized at certain times, like at work the battery wouldn't last long enough, with the 510 I can use a fat battery with all my hardware, and then go right back to the stick battery when I want.

PLUS, rather than having different models for different situations, I have only one model that fits all the different situations. Also, starting out with a stick model then realizing you want a bigger battery life, not only means buying another complete kit, hardware and all, but then your stick model is just sitting there collectiong dust. Mine isn't since if I want stick instead of fat I just change the battery!

I wish I had known about the 510 when I first started buying kits. But it's really worth a look into since you can fully customize it as your needs change and grow!

The starter kits are right around $35 at both cignot.com and liberty-flights.com

Wow! I wasn't expecting this many responses so quickly! I took the advice of canceling my GreenSmoke order. I was pleased to ultimately get this response:

We have managed to locate your order, order number ..., and it will not be shipped out. We will be refunding you for this order shortly.

Thus I avoided the order even being shipped, and paying for such shipping. I must admit, GreenSmoke has excellent customer service, which is a very good thing for impulsive people like me.

So now I have to make another order. I noticed that five of the responses mentioned the eGo as a good option. I've been searching through this site to see what I can find on the Joye 510 and 303A models. The eGo sounds great, but I really want something that has the shape of a cigarette. I've realized that the ability for me to hold it and wave it around like a cigarette is almost as important as performance. One of the things I liked about the GreenSmoke was how they looked (I ordered a green LED on the long one). I like the way the BluCigs look, too, but almost everybody says they are complete junk if you ever receive what you ordered.

Did I read correctly that the 510s have a blue LED? Do any of the other Joyetech models have LEDs? Not having one is not a deal-breaker, but I'd like to have at least one unit which looks like a cigarette with a red LED for those situations when I am in a smoking environment sometimes; not all the time, though. I'm well past over worrying much about being different. So does anyone have any suggestions on what might meet my needs? The nice thing about not ordering GreenSmoke anymore is that I could almost get three different kinds if I wanted to.

I would rather spend the extra money on the right accessories, though, such as extra batteries. If the consequence of really wanting that slim package are batteries that lose charge after an hour, then I can just get lots of batteries. Another thing I read somewhere, which I have not verified, is that the 510 batteries are manual, but that there were automatic ones available which fit this kit. Any help in clarifying these issues would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Just read your post on canceling and what you think you will need. Can I make a suggestion to you. Go to liberty-flights.com U.S site register and click on the 20% off coupon upper left and order 1 kit a regular Joye 510 with a manual button and if you want a auto get just one extra batt that is auto. Then order 1 Riva 510 lite bundle and then pick out several 5 ml bottles of sampler size juices. You can do this all from 1 company and they ship not far from you so you should have it quickly. You should be able to do all this for less than $100, don't go nuts on cases etc at this point, find out if you like it and as you use it you will figure out if the case or pass through is for you. Most likely a month from now you won't care if it looks like a cig or has an LED, you will just want it to work and work well. Welcome and best of luck on your new journey and most of all have fun!

I would suggest going for a Joye 510 or KR808 if you need something similar to cigarette size, they do the 510 in white, which looks quite nice. The ones that look like actual cigarettes like the GreenSmoke, have very poor battery and performance, I think you'll be disapointed and will need several batteries to get you through the day.

The good thing about the 510 range, is that the ego are from the same family...so you can use the bigger ego batteries at home with the kit you use for the 510 you have. There is a lot of products out there for this range, and some great prices on accessories etc, as its the most popular.

check out LibertyFlights.com great prices. They have a forum on here, where you'll find a discount code for 20% off too.

Congrats on your decision to give up analogs! Sounds like it was a very important choice for you.
Glad you could cancel the Greensmoke order. Lots of better choices out there.
Regardless of which PV you choose, you will be avoiding poisonous analog cigarettes.
Best of Luck in Your Future Vaping Endeavors!

Great Advice Dee, That way she gets to try both the penstyle and a bigger batt. version...plus juice samples...and for less money..pretty smart thinking. Vena, welcome to ECF and Good luck to you, what ever PV you decide on.

I would highly recomend this:
Get the 510 standard kit from cignot.com you can choose your battery color and led color. It's around $35 total
Then go to the accessories link there and order 1 ego battery. around $20.

Total 55!

Now you'll have your stick like cigarette, and the ego battery which works with all your 510 stuff (atty's carts and charger)
Then you have both the kits your comparing and you can always order another ego battery later but just having one should be fine. You can also order an ego charger, even though your 510 will charge it, it's a lot quicker on an ego charger.
