My 510-T is Leaking in my Mouth!

My partner and I just started vaping about a week ago. My friend recommended the 510-T as our first model.

I have to say, I'm very satisfied with it, but the reservoirs at the top of the tank quickly fill up with fluid and when they get full, I get a big mouthful of juice. And it's gross. This began after the tanks were only about 2 days old, and it happens for both of us.

I've switched to using the regular cartridges that came with, and while the leaking is no longer a problem, I do want to use my 510-Ts.

Anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Keep in mind that this is my very first e-cig, and while I had done a great deal of research before buying, I am really new to this.

This is a pretty common problem... I figured out how to stop my tank from leaking, but it took some time... and I actually moved on from it. I sealed the end caps of the cart onto the cart with clear RTV sealer... which meant I had to then fill my carts back up using a needle. Also, I made sure that the spike went into the cart exactly the same way every time and didn't mess with the plastic flap that is left after the spike punctured the cart. If the hole gets too big, they leak.

Also, any idea what vg/pg blend you're using? 70pg/30vg worked well for me. Thin liquid leaks (too much PG), thicker liquid doesnt wick (too much VG).

Do some searching.. this is really common and has probably been covered a bunch!

Thank you very much for replying, Chorn!

I'm using Totally Wicked Herculian Range, PG based (which sounds like it might be the problem.)

I just started up a brand new fresh tank without removing the cap, just poking it through (and not twisting it) and filling it up with a needle. I'll let you know how it goes.

I figured this was a common thing and that there would be other people asking. I did some searching but, believe it or not, most of the responses I found when I googled "'510-t' leak" was a bunch of people saying it didn't leak!

I'm on day #2 of vaping, using a 510-T. I would say it's been a successful venture but I have had the leaking issue with one of my tanks. I am guessing it's due to manufacturing inconsistency between different attys and tanks because I haven't noticed a pattern - I got a starter kit w/ 2 batts, 2 attys, etc and thus far my blue atty has the leak issue and my stainless has had the "hanging chad" issue (not puncturing the tank fully). They both seem to be pretty common but inconsistent. All in all though I'm pretty happy. Chornbro pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I'm going to order some cartos and see how I like them, just for a little different vaping experience.

I'm surprised to hear about leaking with these. I've had mine about a month and have not experienced this at all, even after the hole has gotten big from repeated use. The one thing I did learn early on was to make sure that the tank was completely seated...when I first put it on, it kind of feels like it's pushed all the way down, but it's not so I always do a second push. I've had some of the juice build up in the mouthpiece part (from the condensation) but I pop off the top part of mouthpiece (using a very small screwdriver, like the type you use to tighten the screws in eyeglasses) to clean that part out.

Sudoku: I'll try that in the future. I was also able to clean that out by soaking the carts in rubbing alcohol. I don't know if this is okay to do (again, I'm new) but it did work, but your solution seems better.

You could always give cartomizers a try. I didn't care for the atty/cart and had issues with the tank (on an ego) and cartomizers work out fairly well for me.

Hope you get your tanks working though. I always cleaned mine with alcohol as well.

Okay, so, 24 hours on and my problem appears to be solved. I also discovered that I was sucking too hard and expecting short, intense drags like from a cigarette, which was pulling the fluid through too quickly and flooding the atomizer.

So, for the record, what fixed my problem was not removing the cap from the cartridge and filling with a needle, being careful not to twist or fiddle with the cartridge too much while it was hooked up to the atomizer, and not sucking too hard. Once I got a feel for taking longer, softer drags that weren't pushing the atty too hard, it started working beautifully. Copious vapor production and no more leaks.

I have used rubbing alcohol to clean parts, even atomizers

However my advice is to get nasty serious about drying them afterwards... you do not want to vape poison which is what rubbing alcohol is if you vape it

I blow them out dry, then use a pot holder glove and a hair dryer on them for quite a while, and then I still let them sit on a warm dry place for 24 hours before I used them again.

an alternative is grain alcohol or even Vodka which is less dangerous than Rubbing alcohol

Try some cartomizers too since cartomizers are much more pleasant than carts. Boge 510 cartomizers in standard resistance (the LR and HR ones are for bigger/stronger batteries). And if you have a manual battery you could also try dripping if you get a drip tip.

And thanks for the tank tips! I got a tank atty and some empty tanks for my 510 a couple of weeks ago but didn't try them yet.

Yeah, I'm thinking about trying out some cartomizers next time I buy supplies, which will be six months or so from now, since I'm in Mexico.:toast:

I agree totally I switched to the tanks cause I was tired of the nasty taste the carts give u if u dont top them off every 10vapes I love the tank havent had any leaks well not severe a little around tank and atty when I put tank on, and little in mouth piece from condensation (got that in the carts too) my atty wasnt poking holes good either got to make sure u got the tank lined up with the atty right I realized (with the white rectangle inside the bottom of atty) The first was wasnt and I didnt get good vaping experience out of it. Maybe me not lining the carts up right made them not last long at all with not having to top off? I learned about it at cignot.com they have a illustrated guide showing how they should line up.
