I have an 801 penstyle I got from Trueman, which I mostly use on its passthrough (also from trueman), with passthrough hooked to an older Belkin USB hub (which is not hooked to the computer), although sometimes I use it on its battery.

e-liquid has been factory filled/refills with Johson's Creek Original

As near as I can tell I must have a 'high bridge' because I haven't had it that long (maybe about a week) and sure enough the filling gets pushed down.

I'm still on the original filler that came with the carts (also from trueman)

tonight I notice metalic taste, but mostly the atty getting really warm right away on even one puff, so after a few turns at topping of the cart and dripping on the atty this didn't fix it, so I took the cart out inspected it first and most of it was really dry and I dont know if I am imagining tings but it seems like about the time my atty starting running hot all of a sudden I'm going through liquid much faster, so I went to a different completely new (prefilled factory shipped) cart.

took it off passthrough and tried it on its battery

Still no luck, no matter what, still running really hot right away so I did moobyghosts' video method of cleaning on the atty (blowing it out, wiping it out, wiping off battery/passtrhough contacts on both atty on the passthrough and battery, then with it on the battery I did the step of heating the atomizer with nothing on it for about 5 seconds (by blowing on the LED end) with rests in between to let the atty cool off and blowing on the battery end and wiping the insides as I go (this is not easy because the 801 attys are such long tubes, its so deep in there I can't really tell if I'm actually cleaning anything off, nothing really gets to a kleenex held up at the other end)

Since the whole e cig is only about a week old that seems pretty soon to be having trouble like this, in fact this is my first time having trouble like this (my 501 and 401 attys are older and still going good, haven't really used the 901 much but its good too). I've been vaping for maybe a total of 2 months and haven't worn any other attys out yet.

the 801 seems to be awfully leaky, and especially was at first, but otherwise its been great until this started tonight

I also tried drippin on the atty and even I think very nearly drowned it (something else I've never actually done to any of my e-sigs so far) and even then it went right away from super gurgly barely working nearly drowned, to really warm, no middle.

I haven't changed anything I'm doing, except if anything maybe vaping a bit more than usual today, otherwise its the same JC original I've been using all week, etc

wondering whats going on. Any thoughts or ideas?

It sounds like you've got a dud! The best thing to do is have plenty of spare atomisers :) I found that some pen atomisers seem to go like this for no obvious reason especially when using carts and when they do no amount of cleaning will bring it back!!

well.. (still struggling with the 'denial stage' perhaps here...)

I got up today and took a puff on it.. just in that one puff, it gurgled at me, warmed up too much, and then leaked all over itself and my hand

I'm still not gonna throw it away.. I'll have to setup on some designated 'dud box' or something now I guess

fortunately I have 9 other attys (since I was trying to hae 10 per model I have).. this brings me one atty closer to being in trouble if we have E-mageddon

I'm having some issues with my 801 also. A bad taste, really harsh, and not much vapor at all. I can kinda cover up some of the holes on the atty and it works great but it gets a little warm after about 2 hits on it. I'm thinking it's just the juice that came with it. I'm going to order something different from Vapor4Life and hope it works.
