Since this is linked in a few places I just thought I would add that hemoglobin A1C gives you a measurement of your average blood glucose over the past TWO TO THREE MONTHS. This post has nothing to do with vaping and its effects on diabetes, even though we might like for it to. I hope people will stop linking to this as it just means absolutely nothing (again, I wish it did).

that hemoglobin is what my doctor always yells at me about even though she is really cute and petite she will yell at me and I told her I stopped smoking already and that got her down a little bit haha..

Some people can't "just quit" even with vaping. IMO it's better to try to get the person to START vaping, learn how to draw (it's different), find good devices and juice, THEN think about quitting. I've been vaping for a year, and I didn't quit smoking until my smoking stopped going down on its own as a side-effect of vaping. Vaping and smoking together I slowly "accidentally" got from 1 1/3 PAD to about 1/2 PAD (up from a low of 1/3 PAD) so THEN I quit.

If I had tried to "vape to quit" last year I'd have given up vaping. This year, I gave up smoking. Because I was already a master vaper, I knew how to get satisfaction from my vape, so the quitting has been only minor discomfort instead of the usual total torture.

This is awesome. Im diabetic and I was already to the point of doing 1 1/1 pack a day just before quiting. I just didnt buy a new pack went to a B&M shop in the next city and started vaping like a chimney then I was not craving anymore. I also shopped A LOT of flavors to satisfy me. I stared on a 24 mg, dropped 18 mg now im on 12 mg.

I returned a week later to meet and review the results, the following is what my results were:
I wasn't diabeteic anymore! I had dropped my A1C to a pre-diabetic level. I had been controlling my diabetes with diet, not drugs, but until the point I quit smoking and started vaping, was unable to get my A1C to the level I achieved.

Ahhh... You give me hope. :) I have to take insulin right now.

That is fantastic news!

I expect my BP to improve from vaping. Not so much my A1C as a direct result of vaping unless the fact that I tend to snack much less because of it (I can vape inside while watching TV!).
My improvements come from not eating fast food (very hard time doing that sometimes) and exercising my .... off. When I do that it improves greatly. I had to take a break due to my knees really hurting (my exercise includes MMA. And let me tell you THAT will leave you puddling on the mat before you are done.) and my diet slipped a bit. The therapy I was taking for my knees really stopped me from doing much. Numbers shot back up.

OK back at it again so I expect it to be much better again for my next blood test.

Thats great! Congrats. I am also diabetic and went to the doc for my 3 month check up. I was smoking about 1-1 1/2 packs a day. My blood pressure went down and hopfully my tests are going to come back good. I told my docter I quit smoking and am using an e cigarette now and he was really happy about that. I'm glad because I would rather be vaping.:vapor:

I'm extremely happy for you and really glad to see this!

I'm an insulin dependent diabetic and I was a little concerned about sweeteners in ejuice. Despite being inhaled rather than "consumed" with vaping, the body is a complicated apparatus, I like sweet vapes and I just didn't know if there was going to be any negative effect on my glucose levels.

I have noticed that since vaping, my glucose levels do appear to be a bit more stable (so even sweet vapes certainly aren't doing any harm) but my diabetes hasn't gone away (my stage is far more advanced than OP's) and there are a lot of other factors involved (how accurate my carb count/guess and associated insulin dose may be, stress levels, etc.).

Still, OP's success is worth congratulating and I'm happy that vaping may have a positive effect & definitely doesn't seem to have any negative effect on the glucose level of diabetics.

I'm smoke free for 2.5 months now. A few weeks ago I fasted for 12 hours or more and then gave about 6 tubes of blood to be screened for my bi-annual doctors visit/blood screening. I have not informed my new doctor that I am vaping, only that I quit smoking.
I've been busy doing work around the house and all, but I don't walk 5 miles a day or any regular exercise program.
He mentioned that one number/figure indicated I needed to drink more water. I assumed this was from vaping so much lately which I've read on this forum by others that vaping dehydrates you. So I try and drink 64 oz of water a day now. It's already flushing me and giving me a better taste when I vape. No more sore vape throat either.

I was also a bit concerned about high nicotine levels showing up in my screen tests. Nothing. I was absolutely normal.
My kidneys were perfect, my pancrease has reversed and is starting to create good insulin again, my heart and blood pressure perfect. My cholesterol good and bad was at normal levels. He gave me an A+ on the lab work and my overall health.
I was estatic. Prior to vaping, I felt I was days away from a heart attack, stroke or dying. Every day I felt this way. Since quitting smoking I have been vaping my ... off. 24/7. Had a couple sore throat bouts from not drinking enough water, etc. but all in all, these devices to me, have helped me reverse my diabetes to a point where I am not diabetic anymore and furthermore, saved my life. Again, I eat no sugar, no white flour products, lots of green vegetables type of diet, and I still get to eat good tasty food like Steaks, chicken, burgers, and from time to time a little pizza, hot wings etc. nothing drastic but still, I know my body, and my body is liking the vaping opposed to smoking like there's no tomorrow.:vapor:

Wow, incredible! You must be ecstatic!

I wish I could like the OP 10 times... Being diabetic myself, it is always inspiring to read something like this...

Yup, I'm with you Spoons. I finally quit AFTER bypass surgery. I would not recommend such motivation but that's what it took for me after over 40 years of analog addiction. I STILL could not have done it without ecigs. I'm only three months into this but the benefits are already apparent.

I'm still fighting my weight down and pushing exercise but my goal is to get off of most (maybe all) of these drugs, at least for a while. With my family history and the decades of abuse I've subjected myself to, I'm sure I can't avoid all of it indefinitely but I'm not 60 yet. I'm too young to be this damn old!!!

Stay calm & vape on:D
