I love the success stories.. I know personally I have been analog free for 8 weeks.. I guess it's time for me to post one of those banners.. I was a 2 pack a day smoker.. The ability to swim/run again, white teeth, and no odors on me or my cloths is all the difference in the world. Granted im not at 5 mi a day yet. But 2 ISENT bad..

That is great news. I myself need to go back to the dr. and get a check up. How do you reduce your Health insurance? I haven't filled anything out since the day I signed up at work 7 years ago when I was a smoker.

First of all congrats to the OP. That is inspiring and great news for you!

I don't want to thread jack and if someone has a link to another post where this is discussed for me and GregNTulsa, please link it ...

If I recall correctly, insurance forms ask about "tobacco products" or "nicotine products". I can't for the life of me recall which. If a person is purely vaping, can we be reclassified as a non-smoker? Really curious!

Uhc makes you take a wellness survey(and blood test yearly) and the state of florida will charge you with a felony if you lie on an insurance form(say you do not smoke) for all teachers in my county its not just a nic test but a signed statement that they do not smoke or use any nic product. Its a $600 reduction in your cost per year for insurance and will be coming to the rest of the country most certainly in the next year or two_On one level its nice to see out of shape people told to do better but on the other seems big brotherish as I have to have someone take and test my blood annually to get the discount.

I'm smoke free for 2.5 months now. A few weeks ago I fasted for 12 hours or more and then gave about 6 tubes of blood to be screened for my bi-annual doctors visit/blood screening. I have not informed my new doctor that I am vaping, only that I quit smoking.
I returned a week later to meet and review the results, the following is what my results were:
I wasn't diabeteic anymore! I had dropped my A1C to a pre-diabetic level. I had been controlling my diabetes with diet, not drugs, but until the point I quit smoking and started vaping, was unable to get my A1C to the level I achieved.
I've been busy doing work around the house and all, but I don't walk 5 miles a day or any regular exercise program.
He mentioned that one number/figure indicated I needed to drink more water. I assumed this was from vaping so much lately which I've read on this forum by others that vaping dehydrates you. So I try and drink 64 oz of water a day now. It's already flushing me and giving me a better taste when I vape. No more sore vape throat either.

I was also a bit concerned about high nicotine levels showing up in my screen tests. Nothing. I was absolutely normal.
My kidneys were perfect, my pancrease has reversed and is starting to create good insulin again, my heart and blood pressure perfect. My cholesterol good and bad was at normal levels. He gave me an A+ on the lab work and my overall health.
I was estatic. Prior to vaping, I felt I was days away from a heart attack, stroke or dying. Every day I felt this way. Since quitting smoking I have been vaping my ... off. 24/7. Had a couple sore throat bouts from not drinking enough water, etc. but all in all, these devices to me, have helped me reverse my diabetes to a point where I am not diabetic anymore and furthermore, saved my life. Again, I eat no sugar, no white flour products, lots of green vegetables type of diet, and I still get to eat good tasty food like Steaks, chicken, burgers, and from time to time a little pizza, hot wings etc. nothing drastic but still, I know my body, and my body is liking the vaping opposed to smoking like there's no tomorrow.:vapor:

Awesome! This is good news! I track my blood pressure as it increased slightly after starting to vape but after dropping from 36mg/ml to 24mg/ml it went right back to normal. This was the only negative effect I ever saw. i also saw blood sugar improvement in my case!
Yes drink lots of water everyone vaping does dehydrate:p

Our company does open enrollment for benefits every year. We get 5% discount for being "non smoker." We are NON Smokers! The question asks "smoking tobacco products" specifically & it asks also about use of "smokeless tobacco products" chew. How is vaping different then nicotine patch or gum? It is nicotine replacement. At this years lab for blood check (sugar, cholesterol...another 15% discount) the Lab Corp lady said they do the same for their discounts but on the smoking end it used to just be your word. this year they had to do mouth swabs to test for nicotine.

I have been reseaching such tests on line a bit. I know when my husband got life insurance that blood test was conducted in his labs. It is the biproduct of your body from "smoking". There is also a urine test....wonder how this type of nicotine inhalation will impact testing & enrollment questions?

We are exactly the opposite at work. I get a 10% increase in my monthly medical payments for being a smoker :glare: and my workplace has just gone smokeless, so there is talk of ticketing when you are caught smoking on campus - either enforced by the university PD or the security force, I am not sure what they have decided. Regardless, I am low carbing it with Atkins, up to walking 2 miles a day so far, and have vaping supplies on the way. I'd planned to get back into vaping once I'd gotten my exercise routine in order, but I am held back by these darned analogs  I'll report my exam info once I have stopped analogs completely as well so we can get some more feedback on the nicotine content that shows up from vaping.

Great news as your health is the best reason for quitting the analogs. I am saving this thread to show too my wife who refuses to quit. They have tested her & she is pre diabetic & I want her around a few more years.

louis

Some people can't "just quit" even with vaping. IMO it's better to try to get the person to START vaping, learn how to draw (it's different), find good devices and juice, THEN think about quitting. I've been vaping for a year, and I didn't quit smoking until my smoking stopped going down on its own as a side-effect of vaping. Vaping and smoking together I slowly "accidentally" got from 1 1/3 PAD to about 1/2 PAD (up from a low of 1/3 PAD) so THEN I quit.

If I had tried to "vape to quit" last year I'd have given up vaping. This year, I gave up smoking. Because I was already a master vaper, I knew how to get satisfaction from my vape, so the quitting has been only minor discomfort instead of the usual total torture.
