I recently bought 2- LG HG2 3000mAh batteries. I bought them to use in my IPVD2. After charging both batts I used one for the day, it worked great. The next day I swapped batts and used the other fully charged one and placed the used battery in the charger. Later that day when I went to swap with the supposedly fully charged batt. it was dead. Reads 0volts on my chargers. The battery only had 2 charges now it's dead? Could I of over charged it? I noticed the bottom of the battery feels a little bloated. Should I contact imrbatteries about this since that's where I bought the batts from. I'm just confused that a battery that is supposed to be so great could fail so fast. Any suggestions....

@foggdawg

Sorry to hear that. That is strange.

The IPVD2 will have a cut off point at something like 3.0v (I don't know it's exact cut off), so the battery should never get down to zero.

The swelling sounds like the battery has overheated and been close to melt down, which would be really strange for new batteries in a regulated MOD.

What charging rate were you using?

What build were you firing when it did work?

All I can think is you had a bad battery, can happen with anything that's mass produced.

Very strange that both batteries were reading zero? Is the IPVD2 a dual battery MOD?

Charger type?
Confirmed Inserted Properly in the Correct orientation?
Inserted in Mod correctly?
Battery tested with DVOM - Multi-meter?

Questions are because - Drained Battery(time for a recharge) Is still OVER 3v, not -0v-. So the Question now is - Where did the 3+ volts disappear to?

Does the Charger have Reverse Battery protection, or is it to old? i.e. Would it Push a charge into a reverse installed Battery - Basically Flat lining it?

I would place the Battery Back in the Charger, in a Different Slot. Verify correct orientation and leave it in an attempt to recharge. Being New, it is possible it may recover.
Why would I think so?....................Experience

There is a reason it is not charged, but likely not due to defect. Possible, but not likely.

A pic of Both Batteries side by side may be helpful.

Thanks guys for your input. Gonna try to answer all of your questions. The IPV-D2 is a single battery mod. That battery worked fine in the mod. It was during the 2nd charging period that it failed. I use the IPV-D2 while I'm at work, so by the time I get home from work the battery is almost ready to be recharged. But since I have other mods at home I don't usually recharge that batt until bedtime. The battery charges for about 4-5 hours before I take it off the charger and use it.
I've had other LG2 batts fail but never as fast as this one did. Yes it's a little puffy on the bottom and I don't feel safe putting it back on the charger. The charger I was using is a new MXJO 3-port charger. I bought it to keep my batteries charged for my Reuleaux mod. Like I said, the other battery is fine and has been charged and recharged and is still fine. And at the time that batt failed, I had the charger set at 500ma.
I'm just ...... because I only bought 2 of those to try out. they were $8 a piece. So my thoughts on the new LG HG2 3000mAh are 50/50. Gonna contact IMR and see what they say...Probably not much. Thanks everybody.

Well, I have purchased 6 so far, along with several HE2's and a Set of HE4's plus my Sony and Samsung Batteries. No problems with any with months/years use.
It is Highly unlikely your Regulated mods are the problem and adding in the Fact you say you have had OTHER Batteries FAIL

There is a good Possibility your CHARGER is JUNK. Not knocking your choice, but any single piece within a Product run can be defective.
