120ml bottle 100 mg/ml PG nic base
60ml bottle 100 mg/ml PG nic base
500ml VG
250ml PG
5 30ml bottles (I also have 10ml bottles at home I can wash and re-use)

The above should net me 1000ml of finished product at 10% flavoring, 18mg target nic level, 50/50 PG/VG mix. I will also need 100ml or so of flavorings. It should be pretty easy to make lower nic level and just modify that as needed, but I wanted a minimum shopping list. I have syringes and PPE. Am I missing something besides finding flavors to try? I am going to go single flavor batches at first. Doing all the math makes me REALLY want to do this. It really, really will save money.

So...check my math, my logic, my sanity...let me know what you think.

Ahha! I found ya!

I don't know about how much you'll get out of all that, I'm not in the mood to do the math. I just thought I'd help you out with a few things I've learned while doing DIY.

Do you know you can buy your PG at Tractor Supply? You can. It's cheaper that way, and it's UPS grade PG. You can also buy VG at Walmart in the pharmacy area. It is also UPS grade VG. As far as nictoine base, I've bought from here in the past. You can get 100 mg 50/50 nico base. I've found this to be a resonable price.

Our Unflavored Smoke Juice (Nic. Juice, Nicotine Juice) - My Freedom Smokes

Syringes can also be bought at Tractor Supply, along with needles, if you need them for those tanks.;)

I buy my flavorings from ecigexpress.com I've heard that you can buy some flavorings from places like the grocery store, or Hobby Lobby..just be sure they are water base, not oil.

When playing around with flavorings, I found this suggestion here at ECF, and it's helped me quite abit....
Get 5 mls of water and put it in a glass. Put one drop of the different flavorings your wanting to try together, into the 5 mls of water. Do NOT add any nico at this point! Swirl it around and then do the smell and taste test. This will give you an idea of what flavors might or might not taste good together.

Don't know if you already have a calculator or not, so I'll post a link here for that as well.
E-Liquid Calculator With Ten Flavor's
Good luck on your DIY'ing!

Why are you getting a 120 and 60ml bottles of 100mg/ml pg nic base? And have you gone through the safety lessons for that strength? I don't want to beat a dead horse but if you aren't really serious about safety with. That strength id suggest a lower strength nic base.

I could get bigger, it's just what the math called for. I was honestly probably going to order the 120 and get more when needed. I wasn't going to mix 1000ml immediately. I just didn't want anyone to rag on my math too much. Yes, I know I didn't mention the excess 30ml PG in my "math" I listed. I sort of figure I won't make "everything" at 18. It was more of a test to see if I was on the right track.

What safety training? I was planning on wearing gloves, goggles and a mask over my mouth. I am pretty careful, and I have read a lot.

Lots of bottles, diff sizes, diff size syringes (1,3,5,10 ml) glass bottles for nic, paper towels, something to mix your liquid in unless you are gonna do it straight in the bottle

I have 1,3, and 5 ml syringes. Glass bottle for nic is a good idea. I have a glass beeker to mix in. Paper towels...I have kids, I buy them in bulk!

At a glance your math looks right. As dnrtn2342 stated above, be sure to read how to safely handle 100 mg nic. I use 100 mg because it is so much easier to get to your desired PG/VG and nic srength level. Good luck to you.

I sort of figured even if I use 48 I need to be careful. Why not be careful and start where I know I would end up? I still have to order and find flavors...I have time to read. :)

I did get VG from walmart for my first DIY which was a simple dilution. Forgot I saw TSC mentioned for PG...and it's right by me! Good call :) I'll even grab a syringe with a needle to make my tank filling easier ;) I might take the 50/50 nic base idea with PG at TSC...since I want a 50/50 mix it makes the math even easier...I think. Will have to check.

I don't have a "calculator" yet. Before I really mix I will be using one to verify my math.

Does anyone check levels on their base to make sure it is in line? Or are the major vendors testing it prior to sale?

No worries at all! Nytrile gloves and goggle and mask should be sufficient? Or is the mask overkill? I am not going to go all mad scientist and make a dozen batches at once. Probably two 5 or 10ml testers then a 30ml if I like the flavor.

Until my beakers come in I have been using syringes and a shot glass vs my 10ml graduated cylinder, sooooo much easier

What ever is Easiest for you.

I still suggest that the OP try a Graduated Cyclinder. For me, there is so little to wash with a Graduated Cyclinder.

You mentioned having kids, I would suggest a lock box to store the nic and any pre-made juice (if you haven't already) :)

They aren't little, 12 and 13. But I do keep it all as safe as my guns.

I'm more worried about the soon to come day when I have to protect my booze!

How 'bout PG and VG at less than $.007 per ml with FREE $HIPPING?

I'm not sure if I love you or hate you. The answer to that question is based on...

What is the shelf life of PG and VG? That's like six years worth. Minimum.

Edit-answered my own question. Read MSDS sheets...nothing. Google answers give both a shelf life of two years agreed upon by many sources. For the price, might be worth two years of not worrying about it.
