My chargers, the one that just plugs into a regular outlet, keep doing weird things. The last one I had, I had to twist SLOWLY and get it to the right position before the light would turn red to show it was charging. Eventually, it stopped turning red at all. I ordered a new one and I've only been using it 4 days. I just had to perform surgery to get it to charge.

I use the manual 510 and have a charging case for the smaller batteries, but I just got 2 of the longer batteries that won't fit in the case, so I've been using the plug in charger.

I had the USB passthrough, but I got spanked for using it at work

Hawaii! Yay haha
Did you get the second charger from the same place that you bought the first? It could be that the store has a bad batch of chargers, you might want to try buying one from a different place if that's the case.

For your longer 510 batteries, you can find a PCC for it. It's the same size as the standard 510 PCC, but the hole inside is bigger to accommodate the longer battery. I can find a couple of sites for you if you are interested and can't find it.

Also, before putting your battery into any charger, inspect the threads. You might have liquid in there (from flooding the atty or just sloppy dripping, as is my case sometimes!) which could cause problems when it's put on the charger. Clean the threads with a tissue or hanky, stuff and twist that bugger till it squeaks 'I'm clean!'

You can find those plug-in chargers for under $5.00 on most sites, so maybe buy a couple just in case. Never hurts to have a spare or two.

Since e-cigs are not high-end electronics, I'd bet the quality control during manufacturing the devices aren't strict.

Buy cheap, and buy spares. Food for thought, cheers!
