4th mod. I never posted the others, but this one I like.
I saw the copper pipe thread so I went to Lowe's to get the pipe, I instead bought a 2.5" X 3/4" brass pipe with 2 caps.
I wanted it with no electrical parts other than the batts of course. (2 CR2's)
To "actuate" it (or get power to the atty) I push down on the (spring activated) atty/cart which then powers the atty.

When copper is heated it emits copper oxide. copper oxide is a poison and should not be inhaled.

If the cap where the atomizer connects gets heat from the atomizer transferred to it you might want to consider replacing that one part with brass that can emulate the aesthetic of copper but is a much safer material to get hot.

OH, other than that, that is a beautiful mod dude.

Looks really good rick.
Like the looks of the brass as well.
You're right, the fewer wires , the better.
Are you using the full 6 volts ?

Thanks for the warning. That's 1 thing that makes this forum great, so we can tell each other good, bad, dumb and dangerous.
I only "turn it on" for 1 second, really don't feel much heat from the atty, let alone the brass.
BTW: Is brass the same thing as copper. I understand there is copper IN brass?
Yes there is copper in brass but it is less prone to the release of copper oxide because the zinc element tends to draw the heat away from the copper element.

At least that is the way I was made to understand it back in the 1980's when I used to build pipes out of plumbing parts and lamp parts.

Doesn't happen. I have a 801 based copper pipe mod. The ¼" phone jack atomizer connection mounts through a ½" copper end cap and the ½" copper body holds a 14500 battery. I seriously doubt you can vape enough to cause a measurable temperature increase in the copper. I imagine the heat increase from holding it in your hand is more severe than what's caused by heat transfer off the atomizer even when vaping your brains out. Just for fun I'll fire it up later and take some IR shots on it.

Can anyone tell me an easy way to reduce the voltage, like add a resistor IN BETWEEN the batts? Ideally a resistor that is like a washer, just add it between the 2 batts and be done with it.

make it longer and use a 79m05 chip, that will get it down to 5v the sweet spot with all the ma's but it will go through the juice in the RN4081 carts like fire but it's worth it. App that copper will be a great heat sink for the chip. you could make a washer resistor by experimenting with epoxy metal between two washers to get about 1/2 ohm but putting the chip is the way and you'll learn some easy basic electric stuff.
oh yes nice job on the mechanical assembly

Hmmm, run that by me again?
Yes, going through carts pretty fast at 6V, and the first couple of vapes are to strong and taste burnt.
Did a search on this 79m05 chip...no luck. Does RS carry this?

"App that copper"??? What do you mean.

Yes, ideally I'd like to add a "resistor washer" between the 2 batts, there's enough room for that and it would keep it simple. (My main and initial objective)

Could you please post more detail on how to do this?

At first this was a little awkward to use, but after a while it gets comfortable. I need to find a weaker spring, it's to difficult to push down right now.

Yes U Can Get The Generic Versions Of This Chip and Other Voltage Regulators At The Cell Shack (they are very common & different models available).

Its Just A -5 to -12V 0.5A 3-Pin Voltage Regulator and he Is Saying To Set It Up Between 2 Washers For Convenience and to Save Space. No Secrets.. :D

So a negative voltage, 0.5A, 1.1V drop out is a good chip for a 6V source?

Yeah It May Work (I Did Not Spec That Chip For You), But Please Note That Your E-Cig Atom Can Draw 1.0 A and You Are Quoting ".5A" For The Item You R Talking About, So You Should Work With That Information For The VR/ Resistor, An Other Words I Would Rather See You Use A 1.0 A Rated Part and Not .5A

There Are Several Threads On Voltage Dropping & Other VRs, Diodes, Resistors and The IN4001 Is Being Used A lot (Part # is Off The Top, I Think Thats It, Search The Shack For It).

Also The Lowering Of The Voltage Does Have Sacrifices, ie Runs Warmer, Waste's Power, Etc. So You Might Wanna Research It Some More. But having Said That, Their Is No Reason Not To Try Safe Things & Experiment Safely, Since It Appears Your Moddin Anyways. The Chips Are Inexpensive and You Can Run Them In Series As Well, But Not In Parallel!

Enjoy! :D
