Two down... My first experiment with higher voltage vaping, a madvapes 5V PT, proved a bit flimsy in the switch department a few weeks in, as the plastic part one depresses to fire it migrated away from the switch itself. My V4L looked a lot sturdier as far as switch and cord connection go, but suddenly stopped working after just a week. :(

Can somebody recommend a sturdier 5V (no-battery) PT, please?

Check out the Blue Lightning or Sand Bar Acrylic Passthroughs from Madvapes. They aren't cheap but look well made with a separate button. I've got the one you spoke of with the adapter. When and if it comes time to replace it I'll probably go with one of the Acrylics.

Good choice.

Just make sure you have a 5v 2a adapter to supply the required amperage for use.

I use the Tornado pass-n-go passthrough from totally wicked. It's worked like a charm since I got it and I love just being able to unplug the usb and take it with me around the house, then plug it back up when I sit down. It also serves as my backup battery when I'm out and about (I use a 1000mah tornado batt on the go)

The PT's run about $25 from TW. Some of the best money I've spent on e-cig equipment yet

I have and enjoy the equivalent eGo battery, but neither (unless I'm wrong about the TW unit) gives out 5V.

Yes--I learned that lesson early on and got 2A adapters for both wall and car.

From madvapes I bought the 5volt passthru + the ac outlet for passthru's and i tested it with multimeter = lower than 3.7v

and yes i can agree it's not that durable.. I would also like a durable true 5volt passthrough

edit: i've found a couple, but the one above posted does look promising

I'm going to list the ones i find that are spose to be 5volt

If you're talking about the combo below. I've had it for about 4 months and it's 5.0v output, I'm measuring it now. Can't really attest to it's durability as I don't use it as much as I once did since getting a vv mod but It's still kickin and I still use for all my dry burns.

Be sure and e-mail the good folks at Mad Vapes. They may be able to help.

I have a V4L that works well off a 5V 2 amp wall adapter and car adapter. No problems in 4 months. Measures 5 V too. Just get an 808/901 to 510 thread adapter from Good Prophets for .99 and a poor man's 5V vaping experience!

V4L will replace it if you tell them. They've always been good to me.

Sorry about your double bad luck.

Make one. Check the modder's section. Easy, and you select the button and seal the connector. Get the wall-wort. Make the 5v direct PT. 4 solder points not counting the LED. 7 with an LED.

Get a 2, or even better, 3 amp button and a 1xAA box. Use an old USB cord (preferably the thicker kind). Done. Mine's been working for 6 months or more. I can fix it if it breaks. lol.

It's probably the easiest mod to make, and a recommended starting project for modders.
