My dad wants to give vaping a try and it really interests me so I have given him my old istick 30 and iv ordered a nautilus mini and some nice capone tobacco ejuice. I have an official istick usb but can this be put into any usb port? I have 2.1 A USB ports above the plug sockets in my kitchen. Is that cool for him to use? Thanx

I'd recommend bringing him along to a vape shop which offers free sampling of flavors. He may not like the juice you pick out for him, and decide from that that he doesn't like vaping. Finding the "right" flavor is the most important factor for a new vaper starting out. Remember, that right flavor may not be a tobacco flavor.

Thanx then as he won't be in the kitchen all the time is it okay to use his laptop to charge the device? Or better to buy a charger with a port that goes into the plug socket? BTW he's got strange thinking. There is no way that he would come to a vape shop. He loves his tobacco and is insistent that he wouldn't enjoy any other flavour. We all know that changes with time but there is nothing elsei can do.

Zut I said the same thing you Dad is saying about flavors and it was hard to find one that I actually enjoyed. Don't worry if you get him into vaping you may persuade him to try a flavor one day. You can lead a smoker to vaping but maybe not vaping Fruity COPYRIGHTDMCA or Snickerdoodles! :vapor:

Cheers DebiK I think it seems a little ridiculous to my mum that I want to help him. I don't think she understands really (never smoked). It's getting me through some difficult times and I hope he can enjoy it as much as I do. He always sees me messing with wire and cotton and drippers so I think that has put him off. He has seen me with the phenomenon of late and he likes what he sees. Fingers crossed.

A friend of mine who owned vaping gear before I ever got into it is still smoking because her throat got irritated when she was trying it out. I have told her when you stop smoking completely that will go away and about different nicotine levels and on and on. Last night when speaking I think she did not want to hear about giving up smoking again and politely got off the phone!

Here the horse was at the water but refuses to drink...........

I like it ''you can lead a dude to an istick but you can't make him vape'' How long did she try for? I know... all the stuff I want to say to him as well but it can be confusing. I'll just tell him how you put the coil in, fill the nautilus and put the charger in his computer? Is that safe?
I'll tell him about rbas at a later date. Mwa haha

I would make sure he understands what he needs to understand. Don't overwhelm him. Of course, he needs to know about safety and such, but not building coils, sub-ohming and drippers right off the bat. If what he's doing is not satisfying, you can help him reach another level. :)

Any usb port ought to be fine (in theory); kitchen isn't exactly a place I'd be comfortable leaving a lithium battery to charge.

Best to use a charger that plugs into a wall socket.
If some incident happens to occur while charging, better to lose a charger than a laptop.

Yeah, when I started I just knew I was only going to like tobacco flavors (I was a meat and potatoes kind of guy).

Lo and behold, a couple of months later I was vaping cherry, grape and blackberry flavors. Turns out I'm a fruity kind of guy after all. Who knew.

Now, I would never consider taking advice from my 30-something year old kids (young whippersnappers). However, you might be able to interest him in some "favored" tobaccos like cherry/cigar, blueberry/tobacco, peach/tobacco. I remember my early searches, those are the flavors that lead me out of the wilderness.
