Aw, I wish my doctor were like all of yours. After my physical, he just said "you're in perfect health," which I definitely attribute to my e-smoking. My lung function is even back to average, which is great.

When I mentioned how I'd quit smoking and moved onto e-cigarettes, he just looked at me and gave me what seemed like a pre-practiced lecture about how "he understands how difficult the habit can be to quit" and the e-smoking was still very unhealthy. It surprised me, since when I had mentioned e-cigarettes to him just a few minutes prior, he had never even heard of them before. After mentioning what it did (before I even got to talking about how it actually worked), he had already decided to shoot it down.

He basically said my better health must be due to a more active lifestyle now, which I highly doubt since I'm in college and don't have nearly as much time as I did in high school to work out.

Such a shame.

jj2 - I wish I'd read this a month ago.

Here's what happened to me. If it looks familiar, it's because I posted it elsewhere on the forum as a warning to folks with hypertension):

I smoked analogs for 41 years - about a pack and a half a day. My lungs crackled when I laid down to sleep every night. I actually discovered e-cigs in the attempt to find cheaper RYO tobacco on the net. Googled it to find out what the heck these things are, and ended up here. So, I decided to see what the fuss was all about. I ordered a DSE-801 starter kit, some juice, and backup attys and bats. I had no intention of quitting cigs, I was just curious.

Somehow, I accidently gave up analogs with no conscious decision whatsoever. The e-cigs tasted better, so I "forgot" to light up, and just kept vaping. Remember - a pack and a half .... 41 years!!

But I started feeling really dizzy after a few days, and it was getting worse by the day. After two weeks without a single analog, I quit vaping to see if it was making me sick. I tried to smoke analogs but they tasted AWFUL!! So I'd just take a puff or two and put it out until I couldn't stand it any longer and had to have another couple of puffs for the nicotine. It made no difference whatsoever going off the vaping for 24 hours, so I went back to it.

By the end of week three, I was seriously ill. My bosses and a co-worker decided that I had to be taken to the hospital. I was so out of it that I wasn't even a part of the decision. At the hospital, it was quickly discovered that my blood pressure had tanked. I was taking three different blood pressure medicines to control my hypertension - the dosages of a heavy smoker, but I wasn't a smoker any more! I was taking medicine for a condition that no longer existed!

Right then and there, the doctor took me off of one of the prescriptions. Two days ago, he took me off another one of them. Two medicines that I no longer need because my body is healing from the effects of smoking.

OH! And at the hospital, the doc said that my lungs were perfectly clear. No rattling at all. And I know he's right because when I lay down at night there is no longer any lung crackling. These things are saving my life, I'm convinced. The FDA will never be able to convince me otherwise!

My Dr. appointment was Friday. I can't tell you how awesome it is to have a doctor give you test results showing your lung function is '105' (healthy range is 80-120) after almost 30 years of 1-2 packs of .... logs a day. We both laughed when he told me "You must not have inhaled".
Just under 3 months of vaping and my lungs are 'healthy' - clear, no wheezing, no coughing, just clear.

Since I hadn't thought to bring written information about vaping I handed him the business card for my magazine and wrote the web page address dedicated to vaping on the back.

Alternative to Smoking?
Is my gift to you and everyone that wants one, is a web page for links to the best and most current information on vaping.

It includes a letter to the FDA from the American Association of Public Health Physicians, a link to the Tobacco Harm Reduction Association, The video created by the Chief of Staff UCLA Santa Monica, Dr. Michael Siegels blog, This Forum and more.

Please feel free to visit that page - share the link and I have set it up so the information can be downloaded and printed for you to have a copy to give anyone you think might bennefit from the information.

Vaping has truly saved my life - NO IFS ANDS OR BUTTS ABOUT IT

I havent been to the doc yet, but I was in good health already, I can say that I havn't coughed for weeks, and I fell 1,000,000xs better

On the other end, I work as an EMT and there is a patient we pick up WEEKLY, this person has COPD (coronary obstructive pulmonary disease) from smoking, and she still chooses to smoke, so once or week or so she calls 911 because she cant breath, its been a pretty regular thing for months, usually the same time on a sunday, lol

Any way last time I "had" her I told her about ecigs, and gave her a card from electronicstixs, she told me that she would look into it. I posted this story once before saying that I hadn't heard from her in a while, well the other day I saw her at the ER getting a check up because her blood sugar was way way up even after taking insulin.
She was sitting in the waiting room puffing away on her new yeti, and told me that she hasn't had any bouts of SOB for a while (shortness of breath) she still smokes analogs, but sais she has cut down drastically,

It amazes me that someone so sick still feels the health benefits of vaping vs smoking

It's not that vaping has lowered my blood pressure. It's that not smoking has dropped it like a rock. Apparently, I'm not getting nearly as much nicotine as I was getting with analogs as I believe it's the nicotine that raises blood pressure in smokers.

nicotine does raise your BP, but its the carbon monoxide and other harsh chemicals that do the most damage, your lungs become strained and in turn you heart becomes strained, raising your blood pressure increasing heart rate and contractitlity to get more o2 where its needed, its all connected, that makes me think, I want to see a study on O2 inhalation while vaping vs 02 while smoking

I started about six months ago. The tightness in the chest started not a month later. It was just off and on though. Later, when it was constant, I made the appt. and, of course, my doctor was on vacation so it took a while to get in.

If there is no change, or even just a little change, I'd advise you to go back to the doctor in a month or two just to check things out.

My dentist told me about the e-cig! I had never heard of it. He suggested I give it a try because he has "many" patients that have quit the analogs by using the e-cig. Quoting him... "the e-cigarette just makes logical sense."

I now have a 510 and a KR808D-1, but haven't found the courage to try them yet. Wish me luck!

???
