Show him the latest study posted on the CASAA web site. It may get him to look more closely at vaping for his patients who smoke. And PLEASE, join CASAA.

I am a member of CASAA.

My guess is that he is a member of a medical board. I am sure he does not want to risk his medical profession by "steering" patients to vape. All a patient has to do is say well doc said I should do this. Wham... lawsuit.

Until the medical boards wake up.. a doc is sticking a lot out there on by recommending these things. I tried to convert him to a client, but he still uses paper records and does not accept credit cards. I do not think he knows what the internet is. I wanted to strike up an obamacare conversation one day, but I was too busy.

I showed my doc my Provari topped with a cartotank about a year ago when he asked if I was still smoking. He had only seen the disposable cigalikes before, so he asked a lot of questions and I gave him a good 10 minute summary about vaping as an alternative nicotine delivery system without the dangers of smoking. He was genuinely interested and accepting. He now refers to my PV as my "water pipe".

a good friend at work who pretty "country" calls mine my "boing without a i"... cracks me up everytime... as in "what taste ya got in yer boing today?" :D

guess you can't use the B word here.

Some doctors don't stay up with new things, other do. Doctors aren't all knowing. The good ones are inquisitive and have an open mind when it comes to healthcare.

I hate doctors that say, "here, take this and make your co-pay on your way out".

Both my daughters have some rare type of condition. I am still amazed by it, but they aren't life threatening and one did make for a troublesome time at school. We went through 15 or so doctors in the matter of 5 weeks. We had 7 that absolutely without a doubt knew what it was. They have been reported to the Ohio State Medical Board and I will let that work itself out. Only 2 of about 15 took the time to figure out what it actually is or could be (we still are not sure). One was at Childrens and the other at a small dermotologist office. She was just out of med school too. She would call us at 2:30 in the morning after doing research to keep in touch with us. So we asked our daughter which one she wanted to go to. Of course the young pretty one and not the old one.

I have lost a lot of faith in our medical profession starting 10 years ago. When it took me 10 weeks and switching doctors until someone finally had enough sense to figure something out with my eldest daughter. Oh we do not know what is wrong here take a pill or it will get better. Sorry that is not good enough for me.

Today, my doctor asked me about e- cigs! He said he had a patient who smoked 2 packs a day and is having a hard time quitting. I showed him my set up and he asked me to vape it in his office!! I gave him the forum website info, and he started looking at it right there. He seemed so pleased that there is so much info here, and that he can pass the info to his patient. WOW, I was dumbfounded. :thumbs:Today was a regular checkup, he said my lungs sound great, and my O2 level was 98%. :p

These are the type of Medical Professionals that we need to Write to their Local Papers and City/State and Federal Reps.

Good going Robdob! Sounds like you got a good, caring doctor :)

It's NOT about proof. If God himself came to Earth and proclaimed that vapor was the second safest thing to inhale after pure oxygen, it wouldn't even slow down those that want to stop it. It's about money.

It's not like Gods last email made any change.... ;)

My doctor actually suggested it back in Sept (old time country DR) after my OXY levels were low. He said "from what I hear about them ecigs you can get Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. Went to see him two weeks ago and OXY levels are so much better and I showed him my Apple Pie, Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Lemon Cream. He was amazed at how good they smell.

This is fantastic! I posted a thread along the lines of how we ALL need to get doctor's involved. I mean, I do not have any insurance right now but will be willing to fork over my discounted cash rate in a month or two and talk with my doctor about all of this. He is really a cool guy and I can almost guarantee he will either already be on the up and up or interested in what I have to say. He is the commissioner and head physical at our local free clinic, where I think probably like 95% of the people who go there smoke and could have benefits from eCigs. The Hippocratic oath states "First Do No Harm"...and I don't know about you but telling people they SHOULD just go ahead and stay on cigarettes (in lieu of eCigs) is of course doing harm. Now I am not saying they would say that specifically(i.e. keep smoking), but they know we would, so it is sort of a logic thing I guess.

I wasn't sure if you were a member of CASAA because you didn't have a CASAA banner on your posts that helps others lean how important CASAA is to all vapers. Glad you are a member.:)

My doctor was thrilled I quit smoking. My O2 level was 100% (first time ever). But THEN she asked me how many electronic cigarettes I smoke a day...

The answer is in milliliters of PG (or VG). That's an answer a doctor would be interested in; how many mililiters of glycerin you inhale per day. A chest/respiratory doctor is going to have some kind of notions about what effects might occur. In fact without knowing about ecigs otherwise, a doctor would probably respond with something like - well you'd better be drinking lots of water then, because you'd be losing water from your lungs.
