I bought some replaceable head ego clearomizers, the ones with the long wicks (there's so many version numbers I can't keep up). Some had a nice draw and are still working good, but one had the tight draw (I've read it described as trying to suck a strawberry up a straw), pretty close to what this unit was doing to me. I tried cutting slots into the skirt and various other things and nothing worked. The solution I came up with is I reamed out the metal nipple on the silicone cap to something bigger than the needle diameter than it was, using rolled up emery cloth (I think sandpaper might work too) and whatever else I thought I could use. I held the bottom part (the tube part underneath the little metal collar that is closest to the atomizer) with a pair of needle nose pliers and started with the tip of a small philips screwdriver, turning the screwdriver to try and make the hole at the nipple end bigger. This worked until I could tear off a very small strip of emery cloth and could pass it though the nipple. After some passes though the tube, and strips of emery cloth, I finally got the hole bigger. I put the nipple back into the silicone cap, popped it back on my clearomizer, and fired it up. I noticed a change after putting on the reamed out nipple as I didn't turn purple trying to suck air though it. I've been using the clearomizer since and it seems to be working fine now. I know there's other solutions that may or may not work for you, and this is the same. You might want to have a 'stock' nipple as a backup in case this doesn't work. That being said, use this fix at our own risk, your mileage may vary and you might have some proper tools to ream out the inner hole with Please be careful if you want to try this, I'd hate to have anybody ruin their setup.

I don't think you should have to work this hard to get something working, but I'm a fiddler and I think I fiddled this to acceptable until I can order my ViVi Nova tank. I heard those things rock.

Interesting post, shadowpianoman. Motivated me to take the silicone cap off of one of my heads and see what I am looking at.

If you put the atomizer with the cap off under a bright light and 10x magnification, you can see the coil quite plainly in there. This is good news for me as now I can check used heads and see if the coil has developed a 'scab' around it, in which case the atomizer is probably as good as dead. I have a lot of experience with open bridge attys and have seen in detail how the juice leaves residue and that eventually turns into a 'scab' around the coil and have tried many ways at getting rid of these scabs, to no avail (but, some say hypersound cleaners work real well but I have not gone that route).

But, I would expect these atomizers will start to slow down once the wick, which runs right through the coil, starts to get clogged with residue. The one I looked at had been used a bit and then I cleaned it soaking in vodka, and the coil did not have a scab but, the wick running through the coil was already blackened, this with just minimal usage.

So far though, what I have, has been holding up better than attys and better than boges as well.

One thing you might do, is take a wire clippers and cut the nipple off in half, and then use a scewdriver to get it back into round and emery cloth to get rid of any stray metal clippings. Might double the flow through there I dunno.

They talk about using syringes to put the juice in these, but that can be messy, and I was originally dripping into them but have now gone to just putting the nipple of the 6 ML bottles I use inside the mouthpiece hole and, with the clearo at an angle, just pouring the juice down the side. Completely misses the nipple and fills up pretty good, and you don't get the splatter you get with dripping. So, a shorter nipple shouldn't present any problems for me. Yeah, guess I can give this idea a try if I want.

I did a second metal nipple by finding a piece of stiff wire that fit inside the bigger side of the tube (the atty side) and using that to hold the tube, rubbed the nipple side on a piece of emery cloth until the wire went through. Worked much faster and better than the first time I did it. Going to look around and find another and try what you suggested, Zaratoughda. I think I'll have to pick up some vodka or everclear to soak the gunked up ones in. Thanks for your suggestions. :)
