Hey all....
I'm certainly no expert when it comes to vaping, only been at it a couple of months now.
Also, I hope I've posted this in the right place.
I've been reading on the forums where some are having trouble with the eGo T tank, namely the type A.
I had purchased a kit not too long ago, and hated it almost from the start.
Both my attys tasted terrible, had leaks, burnt taste, the usual complaints.
Well, I dragged them out the other day when I read about cleaning them. I had never cleaned mine, didn't "blow them out" when I first got them..... didn't know you may need to. I didn't think I had used them enough to warrant cleaning them at all, but thought I would give it a shot.
What I did was a suggestion by someone (don't remember who, sorry) to use the rubber end cap from a Go-Go cart on the mouth end of the eGo type A atty and pour rubbing alcohol into the battery end and let it sit for 10 minutes or so.
Well, I happened to have the Go-Go, so I also had the go-cart "condom" to use.
The Boge 510 cartomizer rubber end caps will stretch to fit when dry, but you may have to cut it off the tank atty when done soaking, I haven't tried them with moisture involved.
I ended up letting them both sit for a couple of hours because I forgot about them, cooked dinner, cleaned up, etc. My eGo T is the black one, I believe Joye, and it feels more like a rubberized cover rather than black paint, and the little bit of alcohol that got on the mouth end from sitting didn't hurt the finish at all.
I didn't let them dry out for any amount of time, because I missed that part in the instructions I read.
Rinsed them out with hot water, blew through both ends to get out excess water, put them on the battery and held the button for about 5 seconds.
Loaded them up with a fresh tank and noticed a world of difference.
Now, playing around with them for a few days, this is what I personally did, your mileage may vary:
One of my attys appears to pierce the rubber end of the tank just fine, but leaves a very tiny hole, and has a tighter fit with the tanks.
The other atty doesn't seem to pierce the tank at all, no matter how far I have it pushed in and has a looser fit with the tanks.
So, I take the trusty paper clip that seems to be in every vapers tool box, and swish it around that opening to completely open the hole on the tanks rubber end cap. Then push the tank as far down as it will go until I hear the click.
I blow (gently) 1 quick time, then hold the button for a second to 2 seconds while drawing, then release the button for the rest of my draw:
quick blow
press button while drawing 1,2
release button while still drawing 3,4,5
If I hold the button for the entire long slow draw, it gets too hot, the juice tastes burnt.
I have also noticed, after the first tank or two of juice, I can hold the button longer while drawing and not get that burnt taste.
I'm thinking the hole doesn't get pierced/opened enough with just the atty to let enough juice out, which is why I use the paper clip and do the quick blow before drawing on it. (drag, suck, whatever you may call it) Bigger hole and the quick blow to make sure there is enough juice to wet the atty.
Edited to add:
I leave about a quarter inch room in the tank, I don't completely fill with juice. If I do, the juice doesn't come out, even with the quick blow.
The amount of vaper is improved, the taste of the juice is improved, I don't get any leaks, I no longer hate my A attys.
It's an entirely different long slow draw than with a cartomizer.
Hope I didn't confuse anyone with my drawn out explanation.
