There are two versions of that specific m4 series battery. The new style battery is intended to be used with the new style USB charger that does not have a charge indication light on the actual charger. You tell by the battery LED.

However the old style m4 batteries LED do not light up no matter how long one charges it. For these the old style charger was used. The old style USB charger is corded, and had a charge indication LED on the charger.

What has apparently happened is they have supplied old batteries with new chargers in order to make up for lost time and back stock issues. It seems that a few Companies have done that over the Holidays. That does not make it acceptable however..

Pete: That does not sound good. You are very lucky your computers ports have an emergency surge cutoff.

Well that would make sense then. As I have the new usb charger with no light indicator, and neither of my batteries have shown a solid LED light indicating a full charge (even after a 12+ hour charge. never overheated though).

I have tried using the AC power plug as well with the light on it, and it has never gone green, would this be because of the battery as well? Or the usb adapter it uses in the charger? Either way my batteries always end up with plenty of power after a short charge, but I never get any indication that it has made it to a full charge.

I have spoken to Chris at Intellicig about the chargers and all of the batteries and chargers are from the same batch. I know that because I got the last 8 batteries from the old batch. Whatever batteries on whatever charger has made no difference, they all charge up without any problem although as I explained on another thread about EVO chargers they don't always light up.

"It all depends on your PC. I have one of the new stubby chargers and all batteries light up when charged on my PC, which is around 5 years old now.
On my PC at work it doesn't light up when charged but they are definitely charged and run for hours as normal. I have tried the charger on 6 PCs and 4 laptops, 2 PCs and 1 laptop light the battery, the others don't but still charge okay. A friend who is a systems engineer reckons that some PCs will cut power to the port when it is not being demanded, ie when a battery is fully charged. Also, if I leave the battery connected on my home PC the light only stays on for around 10-15 minutes then goes off, then comes back on after 10-15 minutes! As for a 250ma battery killing your laptop and eating all the data......I like living on the edge!;-)"

quick update, i also got a reply from John at Intellicig (in RECORD TIME, like, i got a reply in about an hour!) and he said he agrees with the post by Jimi, with the response from Chris (right above this post).

i will toy around with some USB options and see if i can get one to light up.

it does make sense that it could just be the USB/computer since so many people are having such varied results.

i should say, by the way, i'm enjoying my EVO right now. aside from the charger light issue....

it does feel very much like a real cig, and after a couple drops of VG in a cart, i can puff as gently as a real cig and get as much vapor. as of RIGHT NOW, it is feeling easier than my Pilot...but that's just a short term impression over a few days :) i'm sure it helps that the batteries for EVO are super sensitive, and for mine at least, noticeably moreso than my Pilot batteries.

or i could be imagining it all and high on nicotine and both perform exactly alike.

;)

I'm having the same issue with my batteries. No solid light when they are fully charged. However, I have an iPhone with a car charger. I can remove the cable and have a USB port hooked in the cig lighter. There is a status light on that. Turns green when the phone and batteries are charged. It's the only way I think I know when they are fully charged.

Also, do your battery LEDs blink a few times when you first plug them in?

yes, the batteries do blink 5 times when first plugged in.

i just got my usb wall plug in the mail, it's a wall plug that has 2 USB ports on it, i'm going to try charging on that and see if i get a light.

also...i honestly think i'm liking the feel of my EVO slightly better than my Pilot. not that the Pilot is bad at all, i love both of them, but something feels a little better about my EVO. also, i think others have said this, the shorter battery on the Pilot feels better than the longer, but both my EVO batts are the long style. just an observation, again, (steve i do love my pilot! haha), and it could just be my specific parts. everyone is different, and these two are VERY much alike.

Just came across this post, am having similar issues although the light does come on eventually, but only after between 4-6 hours I would guess. Have sent an email off to Intellicig and see what they come back with, this is a mains adapter with the USB charger as well, takes longer on the PC USB port and car charger! Have to agree with Flitz though that the EVO feels right in a lot of ways. I started with a 510 and although throat hit and vapour are superb just prefer the feel and taste of the EVO
