Hello everyone, I have been using PV's for about 6 months now but I am new to this forum. I wanted to share my experiences trying to find a product that would work anywhere and would replicate all aspects of using conventional cigarettes as close a possible, including taste, feel, look, and convenience. The first lesson I learned was.

"In order for me to switch over to e-cigarettes I was going to have to find a product that could fool my body and brain, while I am not a very smart guy that is still a daunting task"

Around summer time of this year I bought my first e-cigarette set up from a local smoke shop with enthusiasm about quitting my 17 year smoking habbit, well unfortunatley the e-cigarette set up I puchased couldnt keep up with my enthusiasm. The vaporizer produced almost no vapor and the e-liquid tasted like mop and glo. So I started doing some research online and found out some very scary things about e-liquids imported from asia having almost no oversite or control over ingredients, which brings me to my second lesson.

"If no one can tell you the ingredients of your e-liquid then you should probablly leave it out of your body"

While doing research looking for a good e-liquid I found a company called Johnson Creek Smoke Juice in Wisconsin (they make the liquids I have been using ever since). I found that johnson creek's product was used by another company called "Blu-Cigs" which seemed pretty cool. The Blu's come in a really nifty charger that looks like a pack of cigarette and would provide me with charged batteries all throughout the day, however there were some problems. The vapor production from the Blu's never really felt like a cigarett to me (but they did have some nice flavors available). Worse was that since the batteries were automatic (senses when you are trying to inhale and provides current to the attomizer) they would activate from noises like wind, rattling, or tapping. The end result was I would go to hit my Blu and the battery in the vaporizer was dead, also if the blue was in the pack charging when it activated it would drain the battery in the pack and I was really up the creek. Leading to lesson 3

"If your e-cig isnt user friendly and there for you when the nic fit hits then you are likely to just go buy a pack of ole' fashioned cigarettes like I would"

Finally I found out about the Joye 510 line of personel vaporizers and it was at that point I had finally found a product that stood a chance of helping get away from conventional cigarettes. The joye I originally purchased (bought from Nhaler.com) was a set up that included 2 complete e-cigarettes and the Joye personal charging case. Like the Blu's the PCC closely resembled a cigarette pack and would allow me to take my vaporizer with me throughout a whole day and always have a charged battery on hand. The feel and taste of a hit off the joye was more than ample for convincing my body I was smoking a regular cigarette and the batteries were manual (push button activated) which as many verterans will tell you is better in many regards.

Last night I tried using cartomizers (attomizer and cartidge in one) on my Joye and it has made my Joye 510 even closer to the look and feel of a regular smoke. Since the heating wire wraps all through the fill material it consitently heats the liquid for a great tast hit after hit. Also the Cartomizer set up is about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch shorter than the attomizer cartridge set up so it brings the over all lenght of the Joye 510 close to that of a regular cigarette making the feel in your hand closer to a regular cigarette also.

If you are just looking to produce a crazy amount of vapor and arent concerned about replicating the other aspects of smoking an old cigarette then there are all matter of mods out there. However if you are new to vaping and looking for a product that simulates all aspects of conventional smoking than you cant beat the Joye 510 and cartomizers. I would also recomend buying the Joye PCC to make sure your vaporizer is always ready for you when the Nicotine monster starts screaming for his dose of Vitamin N.

I hope this helps some of you out there in converting to vaping instead of smoking. Besides the Joye there are many other great brands of e-cigarettes out there but the bottom line is the final lesson I had to learn.

"When converting to vaping you should do your homework and talk to those who have been doing it for a while, also you dont need to spend an arm and a leg but if you try to go too cheap you will almost always get what you paid for".

Welcome to ECF, Mitch! You learned you lessons almost the same way I did! I started with Green Smokes, which really didn't do anything for me except put a huge hole in my wallet! I stumbled on this forum, started reading and watching videos and then ended up buying my first Riva kit. Now both my fiance and I have Riva's and 900mah eGo batteries. Thanks to the good folks here and our Riva kits, we've both been able to join the ranks of the "accidental quitters!"

Accidental quitters is a great way to put it.

I guess I should have been more clear in saying that by no means am I saying my set up is the only way to go. Just more to the point that I found it crucial in converting that what ever set up you pick be able to support your needs and most importantly work when you need some nicotine. Also that while vaping is a great alternative to smoking it is important to do some homework and make sure that the product you are using is safe, if no one can tell you exactly what is in it then you cant really be sure of its safety.

I look forward to talking to more people on this forum and I appreciate your greetings, I should also warn everyone not to expect much from my spelling and grammar and apologize in advance for my stupidity

Mitch, great diary of your experience. I heard ads on the radio for about two years before I bought mine... and strange... none of the ones advertised on the radio are the ones recommended here. I was fortunate in that I picked Smoke Stik as my guinea pig, and I have been very happy with it. I have read alot of posts from people having to find a good one.

It is also important to mimic smoking, because I was addicted to the whole experience!

The reason the ones advertised on the radio are neither recommended nor endorsed here is simply because they're overpriced crap. Some of them fall into the "free trial" category and there is a sticky at the top of the New Members forum warning everyone to stay away from them. When you order, they get your credit card info and start shipping things to you on a monthly basis while charging your credit card. It's a scam and a ripoff.

That was another reason why I was skeptical to call one of those 800 #'s. I went online and looked at reviews. Some of the ones that had pretty good reviews, have had some not so good things said about them on this site. So I do think it can be hit or miss. I lucked out with Smoke Stik. But there might be some who wouldn't like SS.

I really wanted to immitate smoking, so I am happy with my find. I just hope more people find an alternative and give up cigarettes!
