General snus is very strong. I would recommend a mini portion of General, at the least, if you can find it in American stores (General isn't doing as well in the US, partly because it's so strong... but you can get General Mini Mint which is more reasonable for a smoker). American Camel Snus feels more appropriate in terms of the nicotine content. It tastes good, it's just flavored more for the tastes of an American cigarette smoker (it has a "bright", sweet flavor), whereas Swedish snus is often salty and earthy.
I ended up using loose snus and snuff years ago because I wanted to cut back on nicotine. Easier to control the "dose" of nicotine that way, and cheaper than portions. I used a prismaster tool to pack it.
