My first 50 days. (Warning: Long post)
A short time in a smoker/vaper life but with ECF and internet we learn fast.
We are in canada so everything is a bit more difficult: prices are higher and choices are less. You can order from china but the delivery time is long (forever if customs pick on you). My first 50 days experience can help canadians short on cash.
About me:
Ex 25 years smoker that could never quit.
My consumption : about 2 ml / day
My PVs:
6 x 510. I keep 2 with me and bring 2 more when I know I will meet familly of friends. I keep the 2 others as backups.
Fatalities: None ! I tought I had a failed atomiser but I revived it (see lower). My 2 older batteries seems to last less but it is hard to tell how much.
My atomiser tips :
General cleaning : An Isopropyl rubbing alcohol bath for 24 hours about once a week.
Hard to draw :
Since most of 510 users have manual batteries the air flow only goes only trough the 2 little holes at the sides of the atomiser and not trough the bigger hole at the top. The flow from those small holes is restrained by the clutter inside the atomiser. Solution : Try pushing a needle (those a plastic ball at the end) in the hole, just a little bit. But not perpendicular : at an 45 degree angle. It will make an airway path.
Too easy draw :
When new, some atomiser can have a too easy draw (util they get a bit cluttered). Solution mask some of the 4 holes at the battery / atomiser junction.
Not enough vapor:
If dry taste: add some juice else probalby too much juice: blow the atomiser. Can also be the time to change your battery for a fully recharged one.
Revival that works:
If the heating element is not broken then there is only one real revival procedure that works. It has been published on Janty web site november 4th and some ECF forumers also mentionned it but not with the same words:
Like every body I made a few mistakes at the start. But here it goes:
Juices : $63 (china cheap)
Flavors and DIY material : $80
Hardware: $ 156 (6 pv + chargers + 1 PCC)
Shipping : $ 54 (2 times china, 3 times HappyVaper)
Total : $353
Is it expensive ? No ! It is quite cheap !
After that It will be even more because I will not make the same mistakes I made at the start : Buying medium nic juices, not buying enough hardware at the same time, buying flavors I do not like, ...
About DIY
It is a great hobby ! China e-juices are cheap but their flavors are cheap too. Buying a few flavors at HappyVaper and at food stores can change that. Also, if you want to reduce the nic you have to add flavor.
DIY can be expensive !
I spent more on DIY than on eJuices but it is a lot of fun.
My cheap China juices are $0.30 / ml but some flavors are $1.00 / ml in small quantities. Some flavors are economical : a drop of Vanilla custard is enough to flavor 1 ml of ejuice.
The great saving comes from VG ant PG that will cost you less than $0.10 / ml and from some cheap flavors in food stores:

- All my hardware is still working,
- I bought medium to high juices that I currently cut to 10mg/ml : From the 230 ml nic juices I have I only used 50 ml. I should have enough for 170 more days
- I have 14 flavors for DIY. All I will need soon is more PG and that is not expensive at all.

- Club House flavors are 4$ or so for 43ml ($0.09 / ml), not a lot of flavor choice but Mint is a must and Anise is good if you use a lot (up tp 50% of your mix).
- I bought a vanilla flavor in a natural product store. $19 for 118 ml ($0.16/ml) . It is a fair trade product and most important : it is already in glycerin ! (it is a alcohol-free). It is vapable as it is.
My DIY discoveries :
- Mix menthol / mint with lemon and you will get you a 7up taste. The lemon tends to mask the mint taste but not its freshness.
- Mango and rasberry is great.
- I never have enough small bottles / When I found a combination I love then small bottles are too small.
- Some flavors are better at lower concentrations but others must be at high strenght or else they are simply awfull.
