Hey all,

I got my first PV Monday afternoon when I got home from work. This is a run down of my last 96 hours (48 of them smoke free).

First off, I got a M402 starter kit from litecigusa with some extra cartridges and 3 varieties of e-liquid B&H, Rye4, and Chocolate.

So I opened up the package and got everything layed out, to my surprise both of the batteries that came with the kit had charges so I popped one of the pre-filled carts (MarB) onto the atomizer and assembled the entire thing. Then attempted my first vape, and OH MY GOD it tasted horrible. I gamely continued puffing noticing that the vapor level from my mouth was far less than an analog. I consoled myself by telling myself that I needed to break the atty in (go go gadget research), I started one of the batterys on the charger and then broke out the extra (XL!!!) carts I had received. I then proceeded to fill one of the empty carts with Rye4 (after reading a bunch of posts on how it was peoples favorite) put that on a bravely started vaping away.

This was less vile than the pre-filled cart, but still not all that awesome, so I vaped on it for 30 or 40 puffs. As I was sitting at my dining room table vaping away, thinking about wandering out onto the porch for an analog, I decided to skip the B&H and filled another cart with chocolate. I switched out carts and found that the taste was quite pleasant.

Next problem, vapor production and throat hit. I wasn't getting a whole hell of a lot (24mg juice). After hitting the forums and youtube I attempted something that is really counter to analog smoking. I started taking extremely long drags (my analog drag is approx 2-3 seconds) through a combo of direct inhalation and hold some in my mouth and throat for approx 5-6 secs.

WOW, vapor production and throat hit increased dramatically (still not at analog level, but decent enough to keep me amused for the time being). So I embarked on my first evening with my PV, I really really enjoyed the chocolate flavor and vape it exclusively and did not have a cigarette all evening.

Now I was using my PV as a pacifier (I have had chain smoking habits in the past, just stopping because my throat and lungs became too outraged by constant smoke inhalation, I am/was/I don't know a 2 to 2 and a half pack a day smoker). So as I went to bed (I wake up really early) I was laying in bed and noticed my heart was racing, I finally managed to go to sleep. Now big mistake 1 was made right before I went to bed, I only had 1 partially changer battery and 1 on the charger.

When I woke up the next morning, I did feel the need for an analog, so I had one. I started vaping sometime after that, with my coffee (chocolate juice and coffee . . . OMG . . . if you haven't tried it I seriously recommend it . . . keep this in mind, it has ramifications that did impact me later). So I went to work, I kept my normal smoking schedule (every hour and a half) but instead of smoking 2 analogs I would just vape constantly for 10 or 15 minutes. This seemed to give me the nic buzz I needed to carry on (still only 1 analog so far, first thing this morning). At around 11 I went to lunch, after a nice hearty meal at 5 Guys (I love 'em so I am gonna plug em) I went back to my car and started vaping constantly. Then the battery died, and the other battery (the half charged one I thought, actually far less than that) also died after about 10 minutes of constant vaping.

Well . . . I thought about this for a few seconds, went to my console, and grabbed my pack of analogs, 3 of them later I went back to work (we are at 4 in 1 day so far). Over the course of the rest of the day I had another 6. When I got home, I short charged 1 and put the other on the charger, while vaping non-stop I ordered a PCC and a USB passthrough.

A few thoughts on my second night as a vaper.
  1. With the M401 a paperclip is not the best thing, dental scrapers . . . them are the way to go
  2. If you poke and prod the filler to get full absorbtion you eat less e-juice
  3. The PTB doesn't work all that well on those tiny carts, will do further refinements
  4. I really like the Vanilla Carmel Truffle tea the PTB's came from

I was smart, and managed to get the timing right to have a fully charged battery at the end of the night and put 1 on the charger (quick hint for all you kindle owners, the USB charger thingie for the M40X works just fine the the kindle AC addapter)

The next morning (10 analogs since PV arrival) I was a little groggy, but managed to get my PV together, and vaping away (remember nice long draws, it doesn't hurt your lungs like smoke does) I got my coffee, and had my chocolate cart, and wow, it might have taken me an extra 5 minutes or so to become fully awake, but the coffe/chocolate combo for right now, has for the past 2 days managed to get me through first thing in the morning without an analog. So I grabbed some more carts, the bottle of B&H and my little dental tool with both fully charged batteries, and the car charger (which I stupidly forgot on Tuesday) started vaping the B&H (new atty, my started kit came with 2) and through car charging and being smarted about the battery made it through the day.

Again, there was learning, the main thing, was that I hated B&H, but not so much that I needed an analog. Got home grabbed my chocolate cart, and have been vaping the chocolate since then only (need to order a bigger bottle, only half left). And pretty much continued into today in the same vein.

Now the real retrospective part.

While I knew vaping would be different from smoking I didn't realize how much. There is definite infrastructure that you need. And even though you have a car charger, when you are driving a stick (in stop and go traffic), changing batteries is a serious pain. While I though I wanted an automatic that closely resembled the act of smoking, the act and motions of vaping are actually far diffrent. With this in mind I now realize why so many recommend the Joye 510 (which I will be ordering very shortly, anyone have a good site?). The other main thing I figured out is . . . I hate the tobacco flavors, and while I am not a big fan of fruity anything, I am definitely gonna try some more candy flavors.

I am over 48 hours smoke free and will be even money wise in 12 hours. Even with my minor hurdles I am tremendously enjoying vaping. And while I cannot see what the future holds, I am starting to believe that PV's could actually finally get me off the cigarettes.

Well, that is my story so far and I am sticking to it. Thanks for putting up with me and reading my long winded diatribe.

Oh yeah, there might (read probably) be more when I get my PCC and 510.

Welcome kaos! Great post, mad a fun read esp. thinking about my first couple of days which were not long ago at all. I got my 510 from strictlyejuice, not sure what the reviews are like on this board and cignot gets mentioned a lot more in these kinds of posts. Anyway, mine came in a little generic white box and shipping was quick. Price is the same, $35. Happy vaping!
