I don't clean mine either. I give them a good 'blow out' once in a while, but when I WAS cleaning them, I wasn't getting the same life out of them. I think any AGGRESSIVE form of cleaning just ruins them..
The blackened-ness of the fibers is baked on burnt juice remnants.though the "facts" thread says the wicking material does not burn, I've got the proof that it can be burned sitting on my desk right now... little blackened fibers of nastyness, dry now, but no amount of washing has yet been able to restore em.
If you do the Highping dry burn method, step by step including the rinsing with very hot tap water, and it doesn't fix your atomizer and make it work as good as new again, I'll eat my hat.
An atomizer either dies, because the coil snaps, or it fades away due to built up crud, or gets clogged up with dried up juice. If it is not dead, it just needs to be cleaned correctly, and correctly is by doing the Highping method using a series of hot water rinses and dry burns.
I am on a mission to stamp out atomizer myths.

I know you've been doing dry burns, but clearly they were not long enough to burn off all the crud.
Either that, or you now have dried up juice clogging the mesh, because you don't wash the atomizer.
And when you combine that with a touch of obsessive-compulsive tendencies, which it seems many of us have, then you have a very fertile soil for all sorts of explanations and superstitions to develop around atomizer care and what causes atomizers to fail.
Hey you should do an atomizer myths thread! Or compile all myths into the facts thread. Like say you have a certain fact: example: myth: "atomizers need to be cleaned to perform well and live long"DC2 said:It seems the atomizer is an excellent catalyst for the development of superstitions.
When something keeps occurring that is not fully understood, and seemingly random at times, it is natural for the human brain to try and find a cause and effect relationship to explain those events.
And when you combine that with a touch of obsessive-compulsive tendencies, which it seems many of us have, then you have a very fertile soil for all sorts of explanations and superstitions to develop around atomizer care and what causes atomizers to fail.
But in the end, there are real explanations for these things.
All it takes is to understand them, and then they can be dealt with properly.
That is the goal of my previously posted thread about atomizer facts.
And I welcome anyone to post in that thread if they have facts to add to the discussion.

Not a bad idea really.Hey you should do an atomizer myths thread! Or compile all myths into the facts thread.
Except that's a fact.Like say you have a certain fact: example: myth: "atomizers need to be cleaned to perform well and live long"
And that's a myth.Fact: "some atomizers need to be cleaned depending on what they've been through and what type of juice you use on them, others do not"
Bad example.Just an example no truth to it really, but I think that'd be a really fun thread. Like mythbusters of the e-cig world
Check out this poll to see how many of us I am talking about......and I don't think you should talk about me like that!

I could compile all the various myths into the facts thread!!
And then that thread could cover both myths and facts all at the same time.
It's just that there are so many myths, it would be a substantial effort.

All atomizers work the same and have the same issues.
And the resolution to those issues has been pretty much proven.

If you had reversed the facts and myths, that would have been more clear.Like I said there is no truth to my example. I didn't want to spend tons of time thinking of a good example because I figured you'd know what I meant..
Well folks, the day has finally come 2 months and 5 days after I started vaping... my first atomizer is dying. This will be the first atomizer that has ever died on me. I started using it at 5v a week or so ago and now it is finally calling it quits. Can we take a moment of silence? Also, how long did your first atomizer last before dying? I'd love to know.
Okay well, what I actually meant was that "All atomizers need to be WASHED to perform well and live long" which is in fact NOT a fact. THAT is a myth because actually washing can kill the atomizer. If you had reversed the facts and myths, that would have been more clear.

I do not believe that washing can kill an atomizer.Okay well, what I actually meant was that "All atomizers need to be WASHED to perform well and live long" which is in fact NOT a fact. THAT is a myth because actually washing can kill the atomizer.
Remember, we are only talking about washing atomizers. And also, not all atomizers are the same and have the same issues, that's not true. 901 atomizers need to be treated differently from 510 atomizers.
