so i built my first mod last week, and it's wonderful. it's a passthrough. i took this: BRAND NEW 5V 3A AC / DC Power adapter Power supply Well - eBay (item 280325831479 end time Feb-11-11 01:58:44 PST) and snipped the little connector off, hacked together an extension cord for it (the cord was only about 2.5 feet long) and ran the wires into a little 2xAA project box (box and switch from radioshack, prewired atty connector from madvapes since i was afraid of trying to solder the connector). here's the finished project: its not the prettiest but it certainly does vape. on Twitpic (crappy cell phone pic, sorry).

now, for the question: is it possible to make or mod (easily) a reuptake juice well? my only problem with vaping lately has been leaky attys. i know the juices i like, i've got power sorted, i just need to stop wasting so much dang juice! i'm a bit of an over-dripper, and it's just frustrating as all get-out to constantly have to worry about how much i'm dripping, panic-vaping to try to prevent it from leaking, etc. any thoughts on this would be great :)

Are you dripping or do you have a bottom feed rigged up ??? If you are dripping, you need to make sure you're battery connector is totally sealed in the box. Use a clear epoxy or jb weld and totally seal the connector after soldering and mounting from inside the box.

Don't know if you can see it but the connector is sealed on the outside and also the inside. The only problem this will cause is leaking on outside top of box. This can can solved with mounting a juice well (cutting out the battery connector hole to accept a small finishing washer grooved out in the center big enough to accept the battery connector itself. Hard to explain. Wish I had a better pic to show you the top of my box and if I was better with drawing program I'd draw what I mean. I'll work on something to help if you don't get any better answers.
As far as if this is bottom fed, not much experience there. I'm a top feeder.

not a feeder, just dripping. and i have sealed the connector from the inside of the box as well as i could (it was a bit hard to get it between the connector and the one side of the box, but the worst that'll happen is a tiny little pocket on the little bit i couldn't get. i sealed it all up pretty well (probably used too much, tbh). and i have the problem you're describing, leaking on the outside (on the top of the box).

i'd appreciate a drawing or pic of some type (even a crude one; i'm no artiste either, learned to decypher my own drawings long ago :p). i think i MIGHT understand what you meant, but a picture is worth at least a couple hundred words if not a thousand.

Well it's quite refreshing to see a new member who understands what it takes to make a true 5V PT.

Well done.

Here's the washer.

finishing washer - Google Search

They go by a few names.

Search Results for finishing washer

Here's how it looks.

Unfortunately it's best to install it first and drill the appropriate hole, then press fit the bottom on the connector through it. The top of the connector is a tad wider. So you'll have a little slack to seal up if you install it now.

FWIW t would be quite easy (2 parts from RS) to make your PT ~4.2 or 5V switchable.

thanks for the pic / googles, willy. i think i'll have to save that for my next build, unfortunately. i don't see how i'd get that installed onto my box now, as the connector's all sealed in.

also, to be clear: i want a washer with an inner diameter as close as possible to my atty connector size, right? i know the mounting hole for a 510 connector is supposedly 11/32 in. but what's the outer diameter? 3/8 in.?

The place I got then from has sizes like #8, 10 etc. The #8 are small. I think I'm using #10's. They fit fine on boxes.

As far as the inner hole you drill them out. Scuff up the plastic a bit and epoxy the washer to the top of the case. When totally cured just drill your hole as you normally would. Take your time as the metal is quite thin.
