Not sure about the kurig grinds.
I've never seen the grinds from one.
I suppose just about anything would work, but I was of the mindset that larger grind was better.
My biggest concern is if the grind was too fine, it would make extraction really tough without getting sediment into the mix.
If that happens, you'll be burning up coils and clogging attys.
I ground mine so coarse that it wouldn't have been good for brewing a pot.
Literally, each bean was chopped into about 10 or 12 pieces max.

I did an extraction with fresh ginger, grated it fine and covered with VG, sitting in jar in double boiler at 160 F. it takes a while, but
you really do get a great ginger flavor, and all natural, and naturally sweet.

Ginger transfers very well into the VG, it's very sweet and can be added to apple or pear for zing.

I am not a huge coffee taste fan, but I am going to try this with fresh vanilla beans.

Oh sweet.
Im gonna have to try that.
So fresh ginger, not pickled?
I came up with a recipie that calls for a good ginger flavor.
Got the idea from a drink while out at dinner with a friend.

The keurig grinds are almost like a chunky powder. Im thinking on the cheap side I would end up using my old coffee filters to filter it through so sediment wont be a huge issue, and I have some very small measuring spoons that I can scoop the liquid with after letting any sediment settle at the bottom. Im just gonna go ahead and try it when I get some VG and ill make a thread to document.

It worked pretty well, used a caramel machiatto and covered it with vg base and nuked it for 10secs, stirred, 5secs stirred and another 5 and shook it up and dumped it in a coffee filter in a funnel into a spare eliquid container.

Taste is subtle but very present, aftertaste is caramel. It probably coulda done another cycle in the microwave though.

Fresh Ginger, the freshest pinkest stuff you can buy. The VG came out fine, but a little cloudy. I am trying this with everclear when i am up at
my "makeshift" lab next week. LOL.

You must grate it and filter many times, that's why I am trying the everclear, it's easier and the alcohol can be evaporated off.

Got the idea from working in the homeopathic area, these tinctures are made all the time with any natural herb.

It may not be as concentrated as the chemical ones you can buy, but hey you can make tons of the stuff who cares.

The ginger is really an accent I mixed with apple and pear for zing. Very nice natural flavor, because it IS all home made and pure.

So I did a ginger extraction a couple days ago.
Came out pretty good.
Gonna have to fool with in some more though.
I think pg would work better than vg, but I was all out of pg.
Have a ton of 50/50 pg/vg and pure vg.
Decided to try the vg with the ginger.
Heated and drained slowly through a coffee filter.
Still a little cloudy.
When I Made up a test batch of juice to vape, I used about 5% of the extraction, and the flavor was just peeking through the 7% pear I used with it.
It think I'm on the right track.
Pg is on the way to my mailbox. Will report back.

Also, at the same time I was testing an extraction of some pipe tobacco using a double boiler setup.
Same thing, I think I need to use pg to get all those lovely flavors out.
