This is nothing new, but I would still like to post so maybe new people like me get into coil rebuilding.

This is crazy... The difference between stock Kanger coils (using Protank 2) and my first coil is night and day. I didn't even know RY4 was sweet so far, that's how the big of a difference it made.

I made a 8 wrap 32 gauge Kanthal on a drill head I found among my wife's tools that fit in that coil place. Then I put inside some organic cotton yarn (this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Debbie-Bliss-Organic-Cotton-White/dp/B006R9HU74, after boiling it 30 minutes) plus two more pieces on top as flavor wicks. In general I followed Rip Trippers tutorial here, but not really down to details (since I didn't have same materials): Mini Protank Micro Coil Rebuild - YouTube

It got to be 2.9 ohms (I think it's crap by experienced people standards), but luckily I could keep the 7.5 W that I normally used.

Huge difference, I vaped it till I got light headed :) That's how good the whole experience is now.

Some of the main differences:
- no more throat irritation (not the hit, there was something different, very annoying, I needed to have a sip after each drag to get rid of it)
- no more lung "stinging"(?).
- no more nostrils discomfort
- apparently much better falvour
- the vapor seems to be more "humid" or dense, don't know how to describe

Anyway, vaping just got much more pleasant. Don't know if it's the cotton or the smaller but more wraps coil. I can basically drag how much I want, I can drag straight to the lungs if I want, I have no discomfort now. Can't wait to finish this tank and retry all my liquids that I couldn't vape before :)

The hustle really pays off, I'll recoil everything I have asap.

So, if I understand you correctly, you are doing builds for the PT 2. Congrats on your new enlightenment. Now check out the micro coil build thread, and start to look for a quality rba and get amazed again.!!

Would highly recommend the Russian rba as your first rba. It is easy to build and a quality build. I have my Russian with dual vertical mounted micro coils with external cotton wicks. Vapping at 15 watts, had to drop my nic down to 12mg.

Protank is ok, but, it is only the beginning of the journey, not the ultimate destination.

Love my rba's.

I am only 42 days into vaping, so still a novice. I wouldn't go into complex builds yet, still want to test various resistances. Also I have just an eVic, it doesn't deliver enough power for dual coils as I understood from reviews.

TBH I've been looking at the Kayfun/Russian for some time. The only problem is their size. People are still looking at me weird when I come down to the smoke area at work :) I think I'll get one of the smaller versions, but not now, I'll give people some more time to get used to PT2 sight.

Later edit: I saw your build Dice, that's crazy stuff :) Very nice looking and appealing though :D

Yes... i had the same experience.
Micro-coil and cotton builds outperform the standard protank-wick by far.
Also good for higher wattages then. Have you seen this? http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-micro-coil-build-aro-evod-protank-heads.html
Really good! :vapor:

Ya... Proper RBAs, like the Taifun GT are an even better vape and also easier to rebuild,
but i still use recoiled protanks... because mostly, when i'm out and about i feel small is good...
discretion...
