Hi Guys,

I just wanted to pop on and introduce myself - I've been browsing the forums for a couple of days since ordering my first 901. It arrived yesterday morning, and I've not smoked a real cig since. Have to say, I so far find the taste hideous, but it's getting a little less unpleasant with every attempt :)

A couple of questions I have - the carts that I ordered with the mini are Menthol High and Regular (tobacco) High - I can't taste the difference between the two, at all... Now I figured this might have been due to me starting with a regular cart, then swapping in a menthol - and that maybe there was still some regular juice on the atomizer that was impacting the flavour - so I switched to a fresh unused atomizer and tried a menthol cart - got the same slightly sweet, slightly acidic taste (which I assume is the PG), but not even the slightest hint of mint. Odd - I've ordered some of Pillbox's liquid, so hopefully that'll be here in the next couple of days and I'll see how I go with that.

I've also had a couple of slight issues with the carts themselves. Firstly, has anyone had a problem with the filler of the cart hitting the atomizer during smoking? It happened to me on a few occasions yesterday - just toking away happily (I tend to draw quite hard when smoking real cigs, and I'm really having to try quite hard not to do the same on the e-cig) and then bleugh - yucky yucky bad taste...

Popping the cart off revealed the filler had come out of the cart, and was touching the atomizer. Any idea why this might have been happening? I changed the cart immeadiately, and it took a good dozen pulls to get the nasty burnt taste off - seems to be smoking OK now tho?

Secondly - cart life seems to vary hugely. Some carts will happily tide me over for a few hours of occasional use, others seem to dry out within mere minutes - and even a good squish with some tweezers will get me very little vapour.

These problems aside, I'm really impressed with the product - I miss the taste of my real cigs (especially for the first cig of the day), but I've had no cravings, and no real urge to smoke a real cig. This coming from a smoker of almost 17 years (most of those on 20 a day) that had never managed to quit for more than about 4 hours before.

Going to be interesting to see how I get on tomorrow, my first day at work with the ecig.....

:)

Hi Peonic,

i've had similar problems with my first set of carts, not burning, but the filler coming out of the casing and variable length of usability.

I've been damping down the short lived carts with Glycerine to revive them with some sucess, though this tends to reduce the flavour of the cart significantly.

goodluck at work tomorrow, it will be my first day at work with an e-cig too, after 17 years of analogue-smoking a pack or more a day.

The wire wool around the heating element holds about 5 drops or so of liquid. The atomizer comes primed from the factory so when putting your new cart in it takes a while to flush out that prime and its taste. It can take a while before you don't taste the mix between the two. Until then you will not get the full taste of your cart.

I've also had a couple of slight issues with the carts themselves. Firstly, has anyone had a problem with the filler of the cart hitting the atomizer during smoking?Popping the cart off revealed the filler had come out of the cart, and was touching the atomizer.

The filler should touch the mesh bridge on the atomizer. You might have had some stray fibers that touched the heating element or the filler got snaged on the bridge. Before you put your cart in be sure there are no stray fibers sticking out of it. If there is just trim them off. Also make sure the cart filler is flush with the end of the cart.

Factory filled carts can vary in the amount of liquid that is in each one. Some seem to be short filled. That's why it's a good idea to have your own liquid for topping off.

There is a learning curve with e-cigs but it won't take long to get the hang of it. Just keep reading the posts.

Good luck and happy vaping!
