I ordered a super mini from Smart Fixx and it arrived right on time today. I was so exited all day I practically stalked the poor mailman.

The batteries were already charged, so I put on a cart. did that first 'primer puff' thing and then a real drag and, well, ugh. Not much taste except for a weird one I can't describe yet, and NO throat hit.

I had to leave for awhile, so left a batt charging and came home about 5 hours later and tried again. No change.

The Smart Fixx site said the kit came with 'regular' carts, so I thought I'd try those and ordered a med. menthol, too. Figured I'd try these out while I waited for the JC.

What I got were 2 med. menthol and 1 high menthol.

I ordered a welcome kit from Johnson Creek last week and my order still says 'processing'. I ordered it the day after I ordered from Smart Fixx b/c the welcome kit wasn't available until the next day (Fri.) and I already have the ecig but JC hasn't even shipped.

I just switched to the high and still nothing....and I really need that throat hit, but the vapor seems ok.

I guess the taste isn't awful - just not good, kind of plastic-like but other than that it feels like nothing. I don't feel any sensation from it at all, except maybe a little icky because I keep trying it to see if it gets better.

I've look around the forum and I've seen where others didn't like the taste at first, but shouldn't I at least be able to feel something?

I know I'm not the first newbie to not be doing handsprings over my first try, but what am I doing wrong?

I want to love it...:(

Well..... not really knowing the whole story, and going by what you have written, it sounds like you have only taken one "primer puff". What you don't say is whether or not that was to clear out the primer fluid that the atomizers sometimes ship with, or to "prime" the atomizer. If it was the first scenario, then I would suggest more than just one puff. Maybe as many as 10 small puffs will be needed before you clear all the primer (or shipping fluid as it's sometimes called) out.
If it is the second scenario.... (priming the atomizer)........

well then revert back to the first scenario and clean out all the shipping fluid, 'cause it tastes NASTY!!! LOL:p

Primer taste - and trust me.... you'll be vaping for hours straight to satisfy your nic addiction!

I had never heard of Smart Fixx before. I did a search on Google and came up with this http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ews/812-smart-fixx-excellent-coupon-code.html I would suggest you call the phone number the thread starter mentions for your questions.

It is hard to help because we do not know what analoge you smoked before, nor do we know how many packs a day. The supplier is not on our list of suppliers on ECF so to find out about them a search has to be done. You could also post in the thread to others who have tried it. Sorry just dont know much about it.

I haven't used the model you have, but both of the models I have (801 and 901) take a little time to "break in" a new atomizer. Keep trying, if it's like mine it'll get better after a few refills. So far every new atty I've used does exactly what you describe, some even take a day or two of use before they give me a throat hit.

I had a similar first impression with my Npro. I was like, oh man almost no taste and definitely no sensation that I was taking a hit. As it happened, the one 'med' cart that came with it had some hit to it (like an ultra light 1000), so I was able to get to the truck stop and buy some badly overpriced refill carts. Took some time to get used to the lightness, but it worked out.

I think all you will be able to do is use what you have to try to replace a cig or two here n there, get some practice with the device, and either wait for the JC juice to arrive, which will have at least some throat hit, or find a semi-close supplier in the suppliers lists, and order something med or strong from them. Almost any US supplier will get some juice to you before JC does. I REALLY love some of the JC juices, especially their Original, but it seems like you have to order weeks in advance.

For a mental note, most e-juice will be more subtle than a regular cig, (there's no real volume of heavy metals or tar in it) so I try to focus on flavor a little more than hit power.

Hang in there! :)

Thanks all for the support...I'm starting to feel a little less freaked out...guess I just needed a little hand holding because I had this illusion of it being immediately perfect. So much for fairy tales. :p

But I've kept at it this evening, smoking a few analogs but leaving them in the ashtray a bit while taking puffs on the ecig in between, and I am feeling better about the taste...

It's very good to know that there's a breaking in period and the hit will get better. That part was really worrying me.

Just a couple more questions: I know I need to have more parts on hand because of the failure rate of atomizers and batteries. Will I probably be ok if I wait a month or so to make sure this is the one I want to use. I read somewhere that it's good to have a couple of models on hand in case parts become unavailable for one or the other, but i'd like to take my time deciding what I want to get next.

Also, I read somewhere, but I can't remember where, that you could add flavor with some kind of candy making oils and that glycerine was something you could substitute for PG. I think PG is something that would have to be ordered, but I have glycerine on hand.

So, assuming these two ingredients are ok, can I just mix the two together and add to the the prefilled carts as long as I don't overfill them? And is it like a 50/50 ratio?

If this works, I'd love to go buy some oil tomorrow and add some flavor...I LOVE vanilla cigs, so that sounds so yummy.

Thanks again for the advice. I am going to get there!

You're going to have to get through 'the primer taste.' It'll get better.

Get some juice from anywhere close (online). You don't say where you are, so...check the suppliers listing.

If you're going to try flavoring, most don't go above ~20% or so flavorings, and that *does* dilute the nicotine content. Also, most do *not* vape anything with oils, or sweeteners in it. As you don't have (I don't think you do?) any flavored or unflavored e-juice, I'd make that a priority before metting with added flavorings, but thee's a list of what most consider 'generally safe' as well as more than you ever wanted to know on flavorings..most use Loranne's candy flavorings (natural), and even then, avoid those with oils and other misc ingredients.

There's also a huge long, old thread on 'Smart Fixx' here:
    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ews/812-smart-fixx-excellent-coupon-code.html

Not really into reading 20+ pages, but you might want to find out what the *real* model you just bought is, for convenience (and possibly cheaper) of parts, etc...

Oh, heh, persoanlly I'd *run*, don't walk, as they claim:
5 - Regular Smokeless Nicotine Cartridges (equivalent to 5 packs of cigarettes)

They're claiming one cart is equal to a pack of smokes. Good luck with that one..
At least the e-liquid you'll be needing will work fine on any e-cig the seller doesn't highly exaggerate about, in the event you choose to get one people are happy with.. :)

I had some carts also from an odd brand called the S118. I never did find out exactly what the density (percent of nicotine) the carts were, they never told me and I asked numerous times. I don't think they wanted me to know that they watered down the juice!!
If you are a heavy smoker, some juicers sell 18mg per ml juice, I get mine from JC, their "high" is 24mg/ml. Others have "highs" that are not even close. But it is actually more the flavor than the nic content that will keep you happy. I OD'd on Totally Wicked's 36mg/ml juice!! Sick, I was. But it tasted great. (reg tobacco flavor)
I was a very heavy smoker, the 24mg keeps me very happy, but I don't ever feel "OD'd" on it. The taste will grow on you till you find something you like. I'm not a menthol person, I understand people have a hard time finding a good juice to mimic menthol. But another question you had was the "welcome kit" from Jc, it will come but they do sell a lot of them, so you'll probably wait a bit for production. I've never had an order take more than 10 days, but usually push 7-8 days from them.
Best of luck! Do not give up.

I had about the same first day experience with the flavors, they really don't seem to have much "flavor". Compared to flavored cigarettes though, its a little more pronounced. Seems to me that you get more "flavor" when you breathe the vapor out of your nose, so i guess more smell than anything.

It is definately growing on me though. Day 2, and ive only smoked 4 cigarettes, and those 4 tasted grosser than usual. I've never really liked the taste of cigarettes though..

Try to suck into your mouth and then inhale to taste flavors more.
