Not a noob exactly - vaping 2 months. But already augmenting my clearomisers with the Igo-w rba and a dual micro coil with cotton wick. I'm a techie so couldn't resist the gadget appeal. Clouds of vapor but I still love my iClear 16s.

Question for anyone listening. What are the options for tank rbas without the whole steel wick thing which seems like a crazy amount of effort to me? Like dripping ok bit not always practical. Reo mods are not really floating my boat either (too aluminum and blocky). Do you really need a steel wick or would silica work?

I believe you are referring to genesis style atomizer systems? Is that correct? There are so many different ways to set up a decent genesis style. You can use ss mesh, steel rope, silica, ekowool, and cotton. It really depends on what you are looking for. I'd check out the rebuildables forums to see what's out there. Good luck!

Lots of silica and cotton wick devices and often easier than most gennies. The nice thing about the mesh wick is how long the coils can last...months sometimes. I use the Kayfun with silica and it's a great vape. Most RBA's and RDA's can be built with silica or cotton. Watch the YouTube videos on these different devices. There are literally hundreds of devices and hundreds of builds. The RSST is the AC9 Clone and it's a piece of cake to wick with mesh, not all genny's are as easy. The bottom coil chimney devices are usually silica/cotton and easy peasy. Wrapping wire around a string is not hard. But learning about battery safety and Ohm's law requires an effort. Also, learning about wire gauge and resistance requires some experience, and coils and air flow are also important. Building the coil is in many ways the easy part. Good luck!

Thanks dice57. No issue with coils - more the genesis style steel wicks for tanks. Is that the only way to wick well from a tank?

Feckin taptitude is tricky too...

I'm not a big fan of the mesh wicks but I like the vape from a genny. You can build the coil using the Petar K method...(PBusardo has a good video and theres many others on youtube). Instead of using an SS mesh wick, you can roll a small amount of cotton and put it in the coil. It's more or less an auto-dripper. Just turn the device over for a second or two and vape. Great flavor. I like using it around the house and it doesn't seem to have the leaking ss does once the cotton is well saturated. Don't use to much cotton, about 3/4-1" should be plenty!

Hey OP, cotton and micro coils work awesome on a genny as an auto dripper. One of my favorite setups now - or was. I bought an rsst to test out a build on and loved it so much it became one of my favorite vapes. Just upgraded to a z2 genny today and did a test with steel mesh wick with a cotton top and it works great so far! All the benefits of mesh for wicking and cotton + micro coil for dripping and no need to tilt. :). The mesh never touches the coil so I don't need to bother prepping it or worry about shorts etc.
