Inspired by the mod i got from TuErOs, I decided to try my own. No fancy VV or crazy electronics. Just a simple 18650 mod with a recessed mounted Mountain switch and a hidden LED. Having never used a dremel, pipe cutter, or soldering iron before, I'm pretty darn happy with how it came out. Now time to read up on electronics to make something a little fancier.

Another one bitten by the bug.

Thanks! Its an 18650 very similar to the design you sent me, obviously without the touch sensor though. Other than that, the only real difference is the end caps and the rubber between the sections ( just decorative ). Oh, and one more difference, the copper couplings at home depot in the US don't have anything engraved on them. :)

I do want to find something nicer to replace the black plastic button cap on the mountain switch. Something in stainless or chrome. Gotta go wonder around hobby lobby.

Ok. I think I came up with a better option for the button. It's a Franken-button made from an eGo-T cart condom and the inner ring of a CE2. It's lower profile, soft touch, and it fits perfectly snug in the hole. Best part, with the hidden LED, the whole button lights up. :) whaddya think?

what are you using for battery contacts?

Inside the top half it's a piece of black PVC plastic that I warmed in the oven and used the copper pipe like a cookie cutter to get it the exact size. Then it's a metal thumb tack pushed through it with a wire soldered to the other end going to the button.

For the negative contact there is just a spring on the bottom of the tube.

i think it is absolutely awesome, chefanim! actually, i think both are equally impressive!

i love "tube" mods. to me, they are just more visually appealing.

dont get me wrong, though. box mods are amazing in their own right. the darwin, the tekk and the fistpack blow me away. fully loaded with every option you can think of, except affordability, lol.

chefanim, i am glad you went with the 18650. when i finally get going on my mods, that is gonna be the base batt i go with. i have learned, early on, that there is already enough issues going on with juice delivery. much less having to worry about swapping batts in the middle of the day, or sooner. are you getting a full day or more with the 18650? the only issue i see is if 3.7v gets to the point where it isnt enough for me. i have tried a 5v passthru and i like it. i have a copper 6v on order, should be here monday. gonna see how i like that. i wish there was a round, li-ion batt that came in 5v with a decent mah rating. does one even exist? i just dont think i am gonna be satisfied with the 2-3v batts. the mah ratings look like they will put me back to swapping batts mid-day. oh well, time will tell. will adjust accordingly, lol.

great work, keep it up, love to see more. you definitely have "the skills"
