So I have been living my life with clearomizers and glassomizers. Been doing ok with them, a little frustrated on certain days with leaks and such, but it is what it is.
I purchased a used mod, came with a tank and some carts. Sold them, wasn't interested.

Now.I regret it. I want to try to work out this whole cart thing, see if its going to work with me.
I usually have 3 or 4 tanks going as I like to change flavors every few hours.
I assume I would need to build a collection of these as well?

I know if ibtanked, and read about some other good ones, but those are a little too much $ to test the waters with.

Any suggestions on a beginner type setup I can test and check out?

Thanks
Rob

I'm a relative vaping newby who started out with clearos but got tired of the inconsistency in the quality/performance of coils and decided to try out a carto tank. I love the look of the IBTanked and the other high end tanks but decided to start out with this:

Smok Tech Pyrex DCT

Simple and inexpensive. Now I'm trying out different cartos before I graduate to a better tank. Currently using the Boge F16's but want to try the Ikenvape as soon as they're back in stock.

I was steered to Ikenvape as my first carto (platinum series) and got few before they ran out. I had to slum with a few others in the interim and I really think they make more of a difference than the tank. I was able to reorder from ikenvape and got enough to last awhile. I dont primarily use my carto tanks so the batch I got should last awhile.

I really like the DCT Pyrex just to see if you like a carto tank but they are not perfect. Make sure to get a tank filler type drip tip tool or the Slap Yo Mama filler tool. It will really help protect the o-rings in the tank and it makes refilling easier. If those seals leak under a vacuum (taking a draw), your carto will flood pretty quickly.

The DCT Pyrex o-rings do not grab the carto as well as the IBtanked. Its not a huge deal when using a flanged carto but it can be a PITA if you use a unflanged carto. I avoid grabbing or lifting my MVP by the tank and it works pretty good. A snug fitting drip tip also helps keep it from moving up the carto. A good fitting beauty ring will keep it from moving down if you use unflanged. The one that came with the MVP works for me and so does the ring that comes with the PT-II.

Before even trying a carto in a tank you might want to try some plain unflanged cartos. They are simple to fill using the condom method. Even if you over fill, you just blow out the excess into a paper towel. Just make sure its thoroughly saturated first. I like to let mine sit a few minutes after filling and check them again. The quality of the first draw will determine how well the carto will work for the rest of its life.

IMO its a good way to learn the basics and its the cheapest way to see if you like them.

picked up this last night. waiting on it arrive. hope its made ok. looks pretty good. one thing i dont know is if it has the cutout for the flanged cartos at the bottom. hope it does. should have asked that before i bought it.

Pyrex XL 510 DCT 5ml Tank - Green / Black [1948] : L Js E-Smokes, Electronic Cigarettes

Zooming in on the pic appears to look like it is recessed for a flange but i cant tell if its the same shape as a SMOK DCT Pyrex tank. The flanges have two flat sides on a round "disk". Those flat sides kind of lock in when you tighten or loosen the tank. I would not worry about it. A good tank does not need the "notches". Good tight o-rings are enough to grab a carto.

Remember to get a drip tip filler tool. It might save you a lot of aggravation and makes filling a breeze.

Cheap one that you can use as a drip tip too
https://www.ibtanked.com/accessories/black-anodized-refilling-drip-tip-detail

High quality SS one that is for carto installing and refilling only
http://bigdaddyvapor.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=52

SMOK also sells one that is just for filling. It does nothing to help prevent o-ring damage the first time you insert the carto. Another company makes one that is long enough to swap cartos on a full tank though.
