My first vape, my first REO - big thanks y'all

It's been more than a month since I enquired about a "Max reliability / least hassle" vaporizer over in the newbie section. Today, thanks to a lot of good advice and hand-holding from all the good people on this forum, I am the proud owner and first-time vaper of a REO Grand.

I've just taken my first cautious puffs, using a cartomizer (I own the RC2 as well, but wanted to take a few easy hits before I try my hand at coil building and all the rest of it) and I'm really digging it: Nice, warm massive clouds of vape, a lot like cigarettes, but much cleaner. vaping Halo's Mystic, btw - yum!

So, thanks to all of you who counseled me on the merits of the REO or gave me advice on juice and batteries and how to get either in Japan. Special thanks to NicoHolic, who not only got me on the right track regarding the REO but also wrote me a detailed shopping list; and to Robert himself, who talked me through international money orders from and express shipments to Japan.

Doumo arigatou gozaimasu, and happy vaping!

Thanks for the warm welcome. In case there's any other REO newbies or people on the fence, here's my first impressions after 24 hours of vaping.

First off, the REO is every bit as robust and long-lived as they say. I tossed it in my bag this morning, strapped the bag to my motorbike and rode to school and back (I teach junior high) with not a drop spilled. I also vaped it hard all day and both the batteries and tank were still half full. For me, these were the main criteria in choosing the REO, and so far, it delivers.

As for the vape, I can't compare it to any other device since this is my first. But it does generate big, thick, warm clouds of vapor and feels close enough to smoking for me. I used to (ha!) smoke menthols and have tried three of Halo's menthol flavors at 16mgs, all of which I liked. I actually enjoy the fact that the scratchy, smoky aspect of inhaling is gone. Haven't had a cigarette - or a craving for one - all day.

The highlight of day one came this evening, when I built my first atomizer. It's a bit fiddly, but thanks to the excellent how-to guide (and accompanying video) stickied in this forum, I succeeded on my first attempt. And man, it vapes nicely. I'd been vaping cartomizers supported with the occasional squonk until then, and they work fine and are easy to use. But the vape with a the RB2 is much airier and it produces bigger clouds as well, so I'm really happy with my purchase.

If you have any questions as for first impressions / what is it like, please ask. Happy to share the newbie experience while it lasts.

Yes, indeed... thanks for sharing your first day. :)

With the RM2, make sure you haven't just squonked before putting the Grand in your bag. Vape the wick a bit drier before doing that.

Don't be surprised if the amount you vape goes up. At first, many vape like they smoked. But with an e-cig, one can vape many more times during the day than one could light up. And with the RM2, you'll be getting more vapor, which means more liquid consumed. That said, the huge juice and battery of the Grand should still last you all day.

Enjoy!
