I have the madvapes prefab vv, love it with my dct, as we'll as with many other carts. But I just about burnt myself on the green computer chip lookin thingy inside the battery compartment, when I opened just after taking a hit. I first noticed that particular part a little loose, so now I must remove the cover everytime I want to make a voltage adjustment, holding the adjuster/computer chip, in place, while I adjust. That little sucker gets hot! Is it supposed to?

It's the regulator chip they use. Excess voltage is converted to heat. Evercool chip mods don't do this and give better battery life. Have a look at: http://krimsonkustoms.com/shop/article_1.001/14500-Everccol.html?shop_param=cid=2&aid=1.001&

i have the same VV box as you,,it is very normal for the box to get hot ,because of the set-up,,as stated above

if your green circuit board is loose, contact MV about getting it replaced before it wiggles around and shorts out in there

The Madvapes VV uses a lenear regulator which does heat up, that's normal. If you use it at a higher voltage with higher ohms they are a little more efficient but stilll will create heat. Just don't chain vape it and give it a little time to rest between hits if you find it's heating up to much and you should be ok.

My Madvapes vv box mod came assembled and all the internal components are potted in clear silicone sealer, so there's no heat discernible from outside the box. That method does retain the heat inside and doesn't allow for convection cooling, and the heat sink needs to be able to radiate heat from the regulator IC to the outside.

Mine is a vv device to play with variable voltage just to see if I like vv better than my eGo, and I don't use it all the time. What I discovered is that I like Boge 2.0 cartos on my eGo-T 1000mah batts just fine.

Yeah, that's what I thought! Even though I'm not much of an electronic expert, I noticed it got hotter when I turn down the voltage, then cooler when I cranked it up. I kinda knew it had somethin to do with converting the voltage. I just didn't expect so much heat, ill put in a ticket, just in case. Thanks a lot for your help.

dewey,

I had seven Madvapes VV boxes (six now---the switch on one began firing by itself when it was months past the short warranty, so I pitched it). None of my Madvapes VV boxes' cases have ever gotten hot to the touch, nor even warm. I tend to run them with dual coils around 4.5 volts.

Definitely open a ticket.
