First I just got the genesis-like tank from Stormy's.I am using 400 mesh. I made the wick around the little hex driver and wrapped my coil let's just say 3rd times a charm. It is working well but wicking terrible. I know my wick isnt pinched by the coil because I can still fit the hex driver in it(I wrapped the coil with the driver still in the wick and the wick in the tank). I thinned some Johnson Creek vg(which is already thin for vg) with 2 drops water in 5ml it runs in my carto tanks with out a problem. I could add another drop of water but I would like to here ideas. Just wondering if it needs some breaking in or what. thanks

I was also thinking.... Where should the airhole be positioned? Should I screw the top on tight or back it off right now I have it tightened and the airhole is directly opposite of the wick.

Ahh, that could be the reason for nasty hits; the airhole should be directly inline w/ the wick. If it's on either side the TH will be intense and flavor bad. On the opposite side, oh my!

For me, when the cap is all the way tightened. The air hole is about 5 cm to the right of the SS wick. Still kicks like a mull, I could only imagine your hit.

The airhole was the problem but I think I need to thin my juice just a bit. I think I will order some 325 mesh and that will fix the probelm. Thank-you all those were just the answers I needed.

Glad you're sorting it out. Interesting side note on mesh and wicking; 'bj43' found out through experimenting that 500 actually wicks better when rolled w/ a wide width. It goes against popular belief that below 400 wicks thick juices better.

I use 400 and all my juice is 50/50 and I use this setup in 3 different styles of atomizers and they all work perfect. I don't imagine you would see a difference with 60/40.

A lot of different things are at play with regards to getting a wick to wick juice properly besides the mesh. Point is, rule out all the possible issues with wicking before change to a different mesh #

Some things to look out for when trying to get a good wicking setup:

how tight or loose your mesh wick is
how much mesh are you using for the wick
have you allowed for air to get into the tank area to displace the juice coming out
maybe leave the fill screw out to allow for more air

Many wicking issues can be resolved with one or more of the above items before jumping into a total different mesh.

Thanks for all the great tips! I am in a coop for one of these to try it out and see how it goes before ordering a more expensive (and I hear you get what you pay for) rebuildable.

What o rings did you use, do you recall? I have a few around but if I need to get another it would be nice to have on hand before mine come. Thanks again!
