I'm pretty new to all this. My son and I started out using Mistics (from Walmart) and he's since graduated to a modular thing. Between the cost, the health benefits and the fact there's no smell or ash, I am SO happy with vaping, at this point I'm willing to give something a little bigger a try. Problem is I've started doing research and there's way too much info out there to make any kind of decision. Between the battery size, the volts, the amps, the ohms, what you can and can't use on this or that...
I'd like something small, powerful, that I can refill. And SIMPLE. What I DON'T want is a "ritual."

Simple solutions would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a local vape shop, go there and ask for a starter kit. Same thing with online orders. Starter kits are always the best place to start as they will give you a simple set up that basically comes down to you picking a flavor and getting used to using it. After you get that slight experience under your belt, then you can start worrying about heightening the experience with more advanced setups.

Take a look at the kgo it can be found here: KGO kit1100mAh by SLB

I'm sure it can be found other places as well. The difference between a KGO and an EGO is the voltage, the KGO will put out a little bit more so it will give you a bit better hit. Here is a review of the KGO as well so you can get a better idea of the size.

A PBusardo Review - KGO Kit - Hoosier E Cig Supply - YouTube

You might also consider an EGO twist so you can adjust the voltage but if you just want dead simple I would go KGO.

In the following I'm using altsmoke as an example source just because they were convenient. Other vendors carry these products as well.

For instance, an eGo twist lets you try variable voltage, though is definitely larger than a normal cigarette. In that case something like:
AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | AltSmoke.com | eGo-C Twist Battery
with its charger:
AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | eGo Series - USB Battery Charger - eGo-C - Starter Kits
And, if you don't already have a USB power supply (I just use a spare one from a phone):
AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | eGo-C - USB Wall Adapter - eGo-C - Starter Kits

The above gets you one fairly low cost variable voltage PV (I'd go for the larger of the two battery options).

Then you have to pick what to use on top of it. A lot of people like clearomizers (a combined heater and eliquid storage piece, using no polyester filler). For that eGo twist PV, I'd recommend staying in the 2 - 2.5 ohm region, as using real low resistance (< 2 ohm) will tend to run into current limits of the ego (you wouldn't be able to try higher power).

I personally prefer standard cartomizers (that do use a filler to store the eliquid). I know nothing about clearomizers, however altsmoke has some here: AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | eGo/510 Clearomizers

For cartomizers, altsmoke has: AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Dual Coil Cartomizer, Single Coil Cartomizer, eGo Cartomizer, Boge Cartomizer, Smok Tech Cartomizer and even Clear Cartomizers!

In filler based cartomizers, I really strongly recommend trying the Ikenvape ones: https://www.ikenvape.com/searchresults.asp?cat=1835

Either the "Diamond" or the "Platinum std 2.5 ohm" cartos would work nicely with a twist.

Now, the "punched" part. To just use the cartomizer as-is, don't get punched. Punched just means the cartomizer has one or two holes in the side of it, is for use within a separate tank, something that holds more eliquid, surrounds the body of the cartomizer.

The tank that I like, personally, is the notcigs M1A1, but I know there are other good ones too, just my preference because it's worked well for me, consistently, for 18 months.

Assume you skip the tank and punched cartos for now (you can try them later), you now have a variable voltage PV (the twist), with some decent cartomizers (or clearomizers). Then you have to pick your own eliquid to put into those cartos. A lot of decent choices are out there. For fairly low cost eliquid you might look at what madvapes or vapor4life/v4l has. If you go to Ikenvape, he has some pretty solid eliquids. For made-to-order eliquids, generally a bit more expensive but some really good things, look at backwoodsbrew or kickbassvapor (and there are many other good options).

There you go... 2.X ohm???
I'm STILL as confused as ever. My son has the ego and it seems so big with all the parts attached.
Find me something SMALL!! Doesn't necessarily mean the same as an "analog" as you guys call them, but that thing is like 8" long!!
That's just not for me

By 2.x, I meant 2.4 ohms or so. I don't know off the top of my head what rating they have. :) You can get a 650mah (100mah - 1 hour, roughly) battery that's much shorter. Anything you get with variable voltage in the KGO or eGo is going to make the battery longer. Variable voltage means you can crank it up and make the vapor "hotter". If you REALLY want a small one, a lot of people like the Volt by Smokeless Image. I downgraded thinking I would want something smaller for out and about, and ended up giving it away. To be honest, the large batteries just perform much better.

Something small and easy to use

Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

Here is the web page for Smokeless Image starter kits.

Get yourself a Volt. Then, if you decide a bigger battery is what you want, you will still be able to use your original equipment.

SI has beginner friendly products and great customer service.

Given that you find your son's eGo to be too large for your taste right now (I phrase it that way because this may very well change, you never know), you may want to consider an eRoll. Smaller, still well received on ECF eRoll Electronic Cigarette by Joyetech | Exhale Vapors

The Smokeless Image Volt is also well received on ECF for a smaller battery. Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

Forgot about the eroll. Haven't tried it, but I hear good things about that, too.

Welcome and you came to the right place! I find it all a little overwhelming myself and I have been vaping for over a year. Gotta tell ya I started with the cheap jobs and bought more kits to encourage my hubby to quit, I learned quality made a huge difference and was worth the cost.

The folks here have great advice and I would follow their lead till ya get more comfy. Thing is vaping is a personal preference so untill ya find something really good it is hard to twaek to you liking. Vape on!

I agree.

Since the OP stated that her son's EGO was way too big, there's no point in suggesting a Twist or systems that are even bigger. While good systems, they are not what she wants at this point.

The Smokless Image Volt is a much better system than she currently has, and can be easily upgraded to their new spinner when the time comes. I'd go with the 78mm volt batteries.

Don't get discouraged. It is confusing. Continue to narrow your focus. If you want a cig-a-like, I'm all for it. That is how I got started. I jumped in and bought the Volt starter kit. You can always keep reading but in the meantime you are vaping on an easy to use, quality product:)

Keep asking questions. People mean well but focus on what you would like whether that is easy, small, a bit larger is okay, what ever.
