My HUD Apartment Building Sent a Questionnaire about the building becoming a non-smoking building

They sent out a questionnaire with about 12 questions concerning whether or not I'm a smoker (I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day times about 20 years up until I began vaping in August); whether I allow others to smoke in my apartment; whether I care if others smoke; and, finally, would I give a 30-day notice and move IF the building became a non-smoking building.

I answered these questions in the frame of mind of being a non-smoker who doesn't mind if others smoke.

Now, the building management knows I used to smoke cigarettes and knows I have switched to vaping, :vapor: However, I don't know if they realize the difference. They are not the brightest crayons in the box, if you know what I mean.

I am concerned that they will not realize the difference, will make the building non-smoking and will attempt to stop the few of us who vape from being allowed our enjoyment. I do not want to go back to cigarettes as I have had many positive health-related changes since I switched to my vaping.:vapor: I do not want to move, as I am on full-disability and it was difficult enough to get into THIS HUD building.

Any suggestions. Thanks in advance. I am new to the whole forum and appreciate any and all advice.

If they don't/refuse to understand, you could explain it to the management the same way I explain it to the police when they ask me what sort of drugs I put in it.
I pull the top cap off my RDA and show them how that works, and pop the lid off the sigelei and show them the batteries and things inside, and show them the liquid in the bottle, put a drop of it on my finger, and lick it to show it doesn't kill me (not the best idea, but I do it anway). Then I detach the atty from the box and let them play with it a bit, so they get a feel for it, what it is, and how it works, all from their own perspective. Be sure to emphasize that the only drug in there is nicotine, and that it isn't illegal or harmful. If they bring up the formaldehyde experiment, I'll quote my friend's Senior Thesis from uni and say that the most harmful thing out of an e-cigarette is iron and nickel from Kanthal (nichrome derivative), both already present in large quantities in your blood, until you reach roughly 1500-2000 degrees Celsius, when you get carcinogens from torching cotton, which, doesn't happen in an ecig. Since torching cotton tastes bad, it's a self-regulating activity.
Seriously, sitting in a traffic jam in a convertible is more harmful to your health than vaping is within the same time frame.

I guess taking Psych 101 as an engineer paid off in unexpected ways.
If all else fails, you could stealth vape... :vapor:

First things first...
Hi Cindy, Welcome to ECF!

OK now, have you ever really talked with the building owner and/or manager personally about the weather, family, etc...?
I'm just wondering if he/she/they are reasonable, personable folks that are willing to take opinions or discussions into consideration.
Sometimes all it takes is a bit of chit-chat about something before trying to change someones minds or sway their decisions.

There is some movement recently with the favor swinging to our side that could be given to them to help make a decision beforehand.

These are just a few recent articles found in the Media and General News threads...

Have they actually mentioned they are considering a complete smoking ban, or are they just "testing the waters"?

You're not a smoker, so just start and end with that. Don't volunteer any further info.
