Switched, is that a typo??? 8.6V????

I had no idea--I've always thought that Li-Ion batteries could not exceed 4.2V (fresh off the charger).
Emphatically no! You can only read this on an oscilloscope. When you hit the switch, that is what the battery will put out, this is a millisecond, this is what folks need to understand. Think of it as a shoot of Espresso saying hey wake up. The rest of the PWM module is much more contained.

Interesting data point. I just checked Joye's website because I could have sworn they made a 900mah but here is what I see:

eGo - 900mah model available (note: eGo not Ego-T)
eGo-T - 900mah listed on products but when you click on it, the info is for the 900mah USB passthrough. If you click on the 1000mah version there is a size comparison chart showing a 900mah eGo-T non USB passthrough.
eGo-C - 900mah model available

Now going to the eGo-T pdf manual, there is a 900mah version listed.

I am confused now and not sure what to make of this. I know my vendor (which has stated to me on numerous occasions they are legit Joye) only sells the 650mah and 1000mah versions, while their 900mah battery is clearly labeled as a SmokTech.

EDIT: Crappy typing, incomplete statement

Joyetech makes 650, 900 and 1000 mAh batteries. I know that for a fact--I own a 900 mAh Joyetech battery and it is my favorite size, BTW.

Again, I am no expert on these batteries or any other for that matter. Yes 600 was a typo and should have read 650. There was no indication on the website I ordered from that the charger for my 650 mAh would not work for these 900 mAh. They were listed as Joye, and I really thought nothing else of it. Of course I do now, but how would the average person, like me, know that a different charger should be used? This was not an abused battery, it was a brand new battery...I'm really quite lost in all of this now.
Once again a responsible vendor should only stock equipment in support of his/her product, nuff said...

Oh dear lord....

I had no idea... And I thought I knew my eGos.

So what do you mean by "its first duty cycle'? The very first virgin duty cycle or does it happen every time the battery is recharged?

And one more question--can a dead battery, killed by a shorted atty, damage a charger?

Every time you hit the switch. BTW I will take PWM at 3.3V any day of the week and 3 times Sunday over what folks believe is 3.7V ;)

Very interesting. I've seen several tests, including Scottbee's and the one linked below, but I've never seen anything near 8V... You learn something everyday. :)

What does the eGo Magic Circuit Really Do?

But, are all of these sizes compatable with the same charger, or should a different charger be used with each one?

I have a Joye USB fast charger (INPUT: DC 5V--500 mA; OUTPUT: DC 4.2V 420 mA) and this charger can most certainly be used with all three (650, 900 and 1000 mAh). I use it with a wall adapter (OUTPUT; DC 5V--500 mA). That's all I know for certain.

If I am not mistaken Joytech batteries are charged at the factory to 85% and are ready to go out of the box. The kits come complete with a DC input 5V 500 mA charger with an output of DC4.2V 420mA this charger is to be used with the 650mAh batteries whilst the 450mA is designed for the 900 and 1000mAh batteries. Any respectable vendor will have / should have this information posted on their site.

Switched, thank you for this useful info.

Quick question(s):

Would the 450mAh charger be okay to use with a KGO 1100mAh battery?

Also, I just had an eGo-c battery (650mAh), about a week old, fail on me. I purchased it from cignot, who is listed as a distributor on Joyetech's website here (Note: Dragonfly E cigs is also on this list) The battery just stopped working out of the blue, immediately after I tested its voltage. I thought it was dead, so I put it on the charger and it blinked 3 times like normal to indicate a connection, and then after a couple minutes I started to notice it was getting warm around the button/thread area (I was plugged directly into my laptop which I know I won't be doing anymore and the chargers specs are as follows: eGo USB charger; Input DC 5V 500mA; Output DC 4.2V 420mA; so a compatible charger) so I disconnected it and put a carto on to see if it would actually work, but as soon as the connection was made it fired up the carto automatically. Battery no good :(

Probably shouldn't have done this next part, but I reconnected it to the charger to see how fast it would get warm, and it was pretty quick. Then for some odd reason (don't know why) I wanted to see if the whole battery was getting warm, so I put it up to my cheek and immediately felt a static shocking sensation coming from the battery. Kinda freaked me out a little bit, so I disconnected the battery, set it aside and contacted cignot who shipped a new battery the very next day (should arrive tomorrow). Through reading all of this thread, I'm now worried that maybe my charger (which has had very little use) has been affected since I connected my defunct battery to it. I don't know if that's possible, but I'd like to hear your input if you have any (or from anyone else for that matter)

Sorry, not trying to take over the thread, just trying to put safety first, and I'm sure others can take from this as well as I have taken from others' posts on here.

Thanks again.

Quite fine. Hoping we can all learn something out of my bad experience. With so much information...I'm lost in a sea of knowledge it seems.

I feel you there, I feel a little overwhelmed after reading this thread from start to finish, lol.

And forget to mention: Glad everyone is okay and no one was seriously injured. I will definitely be investing in some battery charging bags very soon. I had no idea such a thing existed, until I came across this thread.

Your right i edited my post right after i checked with joyetech to make sure, I was under the impression at first that joyetech only carried 650mah and 1000mah, a mistake on my part it seems

You just told us the vender whether you realize it or not... ;)
Dragons are nice... Flys are not...

Joye eGo-T 900mAh Battery (w/5 click function) (JEGOT900B)

From the pic, they look like they say ego-t to me. SO I would assume they are genuine.

I laughed when I read the safety page on that website

These products are not intended to be used to fulfill nicotine habit purposes, but as a matter of precaution in the event that it has been brought to our attention these devices are being used as a method of function to fulfill such purposes, we issue the following page for safety protocol and now obligate ourselves to only allowing users 18 or older to purchase any products from us.

Since I did not see this mentioned in the thread, but it is posted on the vendor;s site - did anyone notice this statement...

Note:Joye eGo Mega Powered USB Charger is necessary for this battery!

That is not the same charger that is sold with the 650mah kit...

I saw that and wrote the vendor to ask about it. I'll post whatever the answer is.

and corley, you had posted who your vendor was in another thread (in feb) anyway :)
