Lipo Bag was at Hobby Lobby if any one has one near them...

Good to know, (tunnel vision I only buy craft stuff from them, never would of thought of them for these!) you can get good coupons from them to by signing up for their newsletter, that generally come out every week.

I will work my way over to the one closest to me tomorrow and get back to you if I can easily find one in the store, but I'm sure that you can also call them also, here's the store locator link;

Hobby Lobby - Store Locator

I believe their website sales and store stock are completely separate, so there wouldn't be any way to search a particular store, but they're also very helpful, so call one if you have one closeby, hth ;)

online or in the stores?
The stores near me don't carry the RC line.
(a lot of folks think silk flowers when you mention Hobby Lobby :))

Not me. I think of walking around a store, following my daughter, while she spends an hour deciding between two different types of clay.

You just told us the vender whether you realize it or not... ;)
Dragons are nice... Flys are not...

Joye eGo-T 900mAh Battery (w/5 click function) (JEGOT900B)

From the pic, they look like they say ego-t to me. SO I would assume they are genuine.

Oh noes! I just ordered the 1000mah ego-c starter kit for my birthday!

I need someone to re-assure me now...

EDIT: Some context... I went to Joye's list of authorized distributors and started going through the list looking for vendors which packaged their starter kits with eGo's that sport more than 650mah. Only Saffire and Dragonfly do this on the list. Now that someone is talking about batteries blowing and all this junk, I am worried. Anyone else order from Dragonfly?

EDIT Continued: And now I realize it was rude of me to hijack the thread like this. I am really sorry this happened to the OP, and I'm glad everyone is ok and nobody got hurt. My advice would be to keep up with it--I've gone through several models (all 808), batts, chargers, etc, and all I can say is that your problem is atypical. You could really save your life getting of the analogs.

I don't think so, the vendor didn't mention anything about it. They have the five-click on/off feature, and they also sport three different LED colors to indicate charge. The only place i can find a description of the upgrade batteries is Joye's website, and it doesn't mention anything about the multiple LED colors. I'm pretty sure it's just the "standard" 1000mah eGo-C.

Another question: is there any place to buy a "slow" charger? Something less than 420mah output? My echo charger outputs 150mah, though I can buy chargers that output 500mah. Takes all night to charge, but it seems to be treating my echo well (4 months running, until i dropped it :().

I would stick with the eGo charger for the eGo.
I've had good luck with them, but I often check the output from all my chargers with a meter.
I'm looking for a change in output.
Even though the small charger (100 to 150ma) seems like is would be safer, it may not be.
It would be running hard for more hours and I'm sure most are not 'overdesigned'.

Safe place to charge is probably the best advice. Set up a convenient place away from paper, gas cans, that will protect against a overly hot battery or fire, and contain a flying battery. Most folks have a special place for most things in the kitchen. Make a special place to charge things.

From my (limited) understanding, all the ego batteries are interchangable with each other in terms of all the parts fitting together. Of course, some of the batteries will have "advanced" features, the most advanced being found with the ego-C line. But, you should be able to buy an ego-C "upgraded" battery and use that with your ego-T cones/atomizers/tanks.

Isn't the ego-T the bigger of the two? I really don't want to switch to an ego-C as my ego-t's work great for me. But I just wondered if they were upgraded and safer now too, like the C's.....

The same thing happened to me with a smaller battery. The damage it did to our kitchen wasn't as bad as yours but the soot went up the wall behind the sink and the battery itself welded itself to a metal bowl that was sitting on the counter.
I no longer buy or use them. I stepped myself up to a Provari. Nothing is 100% safe.Batteries do burst but the Provari has safety features built in the mod where it could prevent a catastrophe. It can shut itself off,it has a vent hole in the bottom and it gives error codes when something is not working properly.ALWAYS buy good Batteries to go with your mod and charge them only in a charger meant specifically for that battery. Do not leave them unattended when charging.I don't want to go back to analogs so I'm putting myself in the hands of what I think to be a very safe mod.I'm Sorry to hear that happened to you. I'm glad it turned out O.K.You do have a decision to make.

Thus far, my husband and I have ordered all of our batteries and chargers from one (unnamed) vendor. Our first order was for 2 650 mAh starter kits, genuine Joye Tech. Within a month, 3 of those batteries had quit working, but this was thought to possibly be due to a certain cartomizer we had gotten, though we have had no issues with the same cartomizers on any of the other batteries we have. Losing 3 batteries in a short period of time, was a huge blow to a new vaper (about 1 month in)...so I went back to the same vendor, and ordered 3 900 mAh replacement batteries, and 2 900 mAh VV batteries. This way we would have some to use and extras for back up. Mostly I have been using the VV. None of the batteries we ordered for replacement have the Joye Tech marking on the end cap, as the original batteries we ordered did. I don't know who the manufacturer is.

Anyway, my husband decided to try out one of the new batteries that we haven't used or charged yet, so he placed it on the charger around noon. Knowing the issues we have had, he had checked on the charging status twice, and everything appeared normal. At around 2:30 we heard a loud sizzling noise from the kitchen, as we were talking in another room, and I looked through the slightly open door, and can only describe what I saw as being similar to a very large fire work, right before it launches to the sky. Sparks were flying everywhere and I managed to say "Something's on Fire...It's your battery" as we rushed to the kitchen where it was charging to try and stop this from burning our house down. About that time, the battery SHOT off of the charger, wedging itself under our refridgerator and scattering burning debris all over the counter and kitchen floor. My husband smothered out the smoldering pieces, while I checked on our kids and tried to start ventillating the house. Thankfully, no one was injured, and our house did not burn down, though our kitchen floor will need to be replaced. That may prove to be a very expensive repair as we have linoleum, in one piece that runs from the back door, into a bathroom and down the hall, to our kitchen, dining room, another hall, and another bathroom.

For more description, the end cap did not come off of the battery casing (tube), rather it disconnected at the top part which was screwed into the charger.

I am now terrified that this will either happen again while the batteries are charging, and injure one of my family members, or burn down my house, or that it may happen while I am vaping. Seriously, I asked my husband...which is really more dangerous, smoking which is proven to cause cancer, but not all people who smoke get cancer, or batteries which explode and may burn your house down, or injure one of us and/or our family? Admittedly, I am torn on that answer right now.

Being so new, and not really all that savvy in the mechanics of ecigs...I can only wonder if there are some devices that are built in such a way that an explosion is less likely (such as a mod box, LT, Provari, or something that uses normal rechargable AA batteries). Any advice from you vaping veterans would be greatly appreciated. There was nothing we could have done to prevent this from happening, I am just glad we knew what was going on the second it happened.

The eGo-c is just slightly taller than the eGo-t and the earlier eGo batts. c=74mm t=71.3mm

There was a change in protection as well. Here's the blurb from Heaven gifts on the ego-c:

"lithium battery protection: It has strengthened short circuit protection and over discharge protection based on eGo-T batteries and there is a device inside to prevent overcharging."

Thanks. For some reason I thought the ego-c was smaller. I'm wondering if perhaps I should switch to the C model.

I have not seen anyone except Joyetech themselves offering the upgraded batt. I would assume the others are selling off their current stock first... Maybe someone is - I just have not seen it yet...

I wouldn't just for the protection - they all have protection circuits - just improved now. That said, on vacation I really appreciated the charging led change on the c's so I knew I wasn't going out with a 1/2 charged batt.
