Hey all! First off, thank you everyone for your amazing wealth of information! I really wish I knew about this site a year ago! I've learned SO MUCH already!

That said, I have a story to tell. Hopefully others will learn from my mistakes. Here goes:

About a year ago, I invested in an InLife PV. I hated that it was an MLM, but didn't do my research. I payed an exorbinant amount of money for their regal model. IT worked great... for a bit. Then it stopped producing vapor, kept dying on me, spitting liquid in my mouth, leaked all over, and started tasting like burning metal. This is after maybe a week. I tried everything to get it to work but to no avail. I have to say though, despite what everyone says, the customer service was top notch. They sent me 2 new atomizers ASAP. But that only seemed to make things worse. One or both were duds. They sent more, but that just took me back to square one. They sent me a whole new starter kit on the house. More problems. Finally they upgraded me to the royale pen style. That's where the fun really started. Rediculous leakage! I was never not stick! Longer battery life, but the burning metal taste got worse! I tried dripping onto the atomizer, but it would go from flooded to burning instantly. No vapor, burning, no vapor, burning. Uulgh! And constant spitting into my mouth. I was embarrased to even let people try it! There were more issues that I can't even remember. Finally it ended up in a box and I was back on analogs. Now its all dead, I want to try again.

Long story, I know. But more info is better than less, right?

So here's the HELP! Part. Where do I go from here? I was looking at the joye ego, but after the InLife fiasco, I want to make sure I'm making the right choice!

I want:
Fantastic, smoke ring worthy, french inhale friendly vapor
Formidable battery life
Formidable cart/carto life
Ability to use e-liquid (even if its a pain)
Minimal leakage!
NO yucky burning taste

I don't care about:
Throat hit
Look/size
Styles/colors

So am I on the right track
PHP:
with the eGo? Are there any other brands I should look into? Or even any other names the eGo is marketed under that might be cheaper? Any feedback is super appreciated!

Welcome to the forum. I use an eGo and it's great! I really don't like burnt taste at all and find that using cartomizers and keeping them topped off really helps. I don't have the patience for atties. Many folks however have a different opinion. They will chime in with lots of info. This will help you to make a choice that is right for you. Best of luck.

Awesome! So what's the difference between the Riva and the eGo? Is it one of those "same product, different name" deals?

They're essentially the same. The Riva tends to be a little cheaper, and has a larger standard battery.

Whichever type is good for not leaking because of the cone. Oh, they'll still leak if you overdrip, but the cone will contain it. Just have a tissue handy when you remove the cone at night.

I just bought a Joye Ego for $42 at Liberty-Flights using promo code October20. I think they have 12 left at this price. Just look for the one that says ECF in the title.)

Entire starter kit at that!

When LF gets them back in stock, Riva kits will be $29.99.

Yea your on the right track with a fat battery 510

you can find them under names like ego , riva, trex, inferno from volcano, vgo
...there are a few others we should really make a list :p
go for what is cheap and has a good warranty
I use the inferno I really like it it has an o-ring cone that stops leakage from being a problem and a front end usb charging system which means you can charge it and vape it at the same time (on the 650 mah version) ...awesome if you have had battery issues and never want to have them again...but any good kit will get you where you need to be they all have small feature diffrences and small cosmetic (or large cosmetic) differences but your getting the same vape

That's. Amazing. I'll definitely check those out. Yeah, when I say leaking, I mean it leaked when I set it down, hit off it, set it from vertical to horizontal or vice versa, replaced the cartridge, looked at it wrong... anything under that is just fine by me! And $29.99 is just stupid awesome! Especially with a bigger battery! How could you go wrong with that?! I'm so stoked!

Oh wait... can I still use eGo cartomizers on a riva? Are they compatible?

Oh, whaaa! Yeah, don't care. I like cheaper! Honestly, I don't care if it looks like I'm smoking a car stereo as long as it performs well. Ill definitely check out the Riva lead. Thanks!

LOL, don't give the modders too many outrageous ideas. I agree that an eGo is a great place to start. As for mistakes . . . meh, something that is a step in the right direction can't be too bad.

I have a Riva and love it. I purchased some (I think) eGO cartos for my Riva but the cartos are different than the ones on a KR808, there is a tube inside and you need a syringe to fill into the tube, or you can use the condom method of filling on the threaded end, but I've never tried that. I got a drip tip and have started using that basically all the time. I keep a filled carto with me but I've only used it once. I basically only keep it with me in case my atty kills over when I'm not at home. The battery on the Riva lasts me 24 hours, I switch out my battery every day at lunch and the battery isn't even dead when I change it out. I start vaping at around 6:30 a.m. and stop at around 11 p.m., work from home at the computer all day so I vape quite a bit.

Sorry about the re-post. I think my droid got confused. I think I'm going to end up being thrilled by anything I get because it will be better than that stupid InLife! Nonetheless, I know there are downsides to any and all PV's. Are there any I should just expect with the eGo/eGo equivalents? Minor leakage I understand. Oh, and I have every inntention of picking up some cartos for it to cover all my bases.

I just switched from a 510 (very good) to a Joye Ego (very very amazingly awesome). I can use the same battery for about 24 hrs just on the standard batteries. That said, I just ordered a 900 mAh batt for each of them as... um... backups. Who am I kidding, of course I'll use those when they get here, not the standard ones! :)

I think you'll be very happy with an Ego of any branding. Like was said above, they do leak some, but you never see it until you remove the cone and it doesn't affect the way it works at all. I keep mine in a pocket of my labcoat at work and half the time it's laying on its side in the bottom of the pocket, no leaks on my coat anymore!

The vapor is a bit warmer (in a good way, not hot at all), and it's so dependable. I drip because I just hate filling carts/cartos, etc. I'm in heaven with this thing.

You're very much on the right track. I wish I had purchased this first, although most of my 510 parts do fit it so no $$$ lost there.

Welcome!!!
