My inner conflicts

So I have been vaping for somewhere around 3 or so months now. I went from a standard ego pen witb a kranger tank to my mpv with a nautilus. While I still enjoy my current set up, I find myself wanting more. My first thought was getting a new box mod that can go well above what my mvp can, thinking one of the 100 watts mods. Now I am debating on starting dripping with a mech mod, looking at a stingray or Pegasus. My inner conflicts on this is that I am not keen on the thought of building the coils and yet, it's something I want to start doing because it will save me money in the long run. I've als0been told that dripping will produce a richer taste and a bigger cloud and I am now interested in cloud chasing and other games/tricks.

What I am looking for in this post is your opinion on getting a mech mod drip set up vs a better box mod. I have found that it will cost me about the same and that is my typical go to for making a choice so I would like more research as well as thoughts of experienced people outside of my shop.

to ecf LitchOfDoom. So glad to have you here. You are 100% correct that dripping will afford a greater experience with flavors. I love dripping. I have tried several styles and types since I began vaping a year and a half ago but as soon as I started using the reo grand, I just knew that I had found what I was looking for. Of course I am not into huge clouds but if I was I would still remain with the bottom fed mods. Something like the Sunbox e7 that is just awesome. I am sure others will come along and give you more information than I can. You really should not put off building your own coils. A hundred feet of Kanthal is like $7. You don't know me but I am proof that it is easy to do. Good luck to you and I look forward to reading about what you decide on. If you decide you just want a fantastic vape, do look at the reo's. You can have low ohms on them. I just couldn't be happier with mine. Have fun.

I just saw this and thought you might want to look at it.

How about a mech mod that is a box mod and will do the "dripping" for you? The REO Grand bottom feeder with an RM2 rebuildable atty is my suggestion based on your criteria and your stated leanings.

The RM2 is dead simple to build coils for. The REO Grand has a 6 ml bottle of juice on board and an 18650 batt inside so you will have all day juice supply and all day battery life all in one unit. The RM2 atty is the easiest rebuildable to rebuild that I know of. It is easy... really, reallly easy. Along with being easy to build, it happens to produce superior vapor density and extraordinary flavor. REOs mods has a sub-forum with the other supplier forums near the bottom of the main ECF page. I suggest you stop by for a visit and ask any questions you might have.

Reo. Because if there is one consistent lament about dripping attys it's the... dripping. People seem to chase after tons of attys - and still have the same problem with the limitations of having to drip all the time. Get a Reo and a bottom feed atty and it takes all the hassle out of the experience. If you are gonna "go there" the Reo is good down to about 0.25 ohm builds. Not cheap, but neither is buying a half dozen tube mods either before you decide to buy a Reo - only once. :2c:

Either one is fine, though I would suggest a regulated mod before you jump into unregulated (and dangerous) mech mods. These days, the regulated mods can give you all the power you need and they allow you to subohm without worrying too much about blowing your face off.

If you have to pick just one, I would say go with a DNA 40, unless you feel 40 watts is underpowered.

A very good coiling tool is this one:

Artistic Wire's Coiling Gizmo Deluxe Econo Winder - Lima Beads

(You can get this many places, above is just one example).

I know that, at least by reputation, the Reo is great. However, I would instead recommend a higher-powered regulated mod if you're just starting to make your own coils. Or just get a dripper, and some nichrome and wicks, and start out with your MVP. Yeah, it's underpowered for super-clouds, but will still do much better than the nautilus. (ETTA: I mean the MVP with a dripper will do better than the mvp with a nautilus)

Once you get the basics of coiling down, you can then decide whether you're ready to go straight to an unregulated mod, or want to stick with something regulated for a while.

As soon as you get a properly powered rda setup you like, your mvp/clearomizer setup will probably not seem anywhere near adequate for times when dripping isn't possible or desired. A nice kayfun style rta with a 20 watt minimum variable device would fill the gap nicely. A rebuildable tank with proper power and a rebuildable dripper with proper power is a wonderful combination of devices that covers what most of us need and want. Well, it works for me anyway. ;)
