All I was looking for was a small size mech mod, that fired "true" without much maintenance, what I bought was way more than that!
OK! So sorry for the long dissertation but some background might help readers understand this post. I smoked LOTS. I wrestled with evods, protanks, and then I finally found dripping with a mech mod.

ooh rah!

Finally got comfortable with a .5 build for everyday and a .3 build for when I really need a kick. I drip 12 nic. Which is good for me.
So, with my go to everyday mod, the stingray X, the switch has been acting up. Last week while travelling it died. The switch needed work and I had to go to my M16. I needed another mech mod. Can't have just one right? I was in Baltimore and checked out a few vape shops near BWI and then in NJ. No-one had one I liked or felt comfortable with. All great shops! Hats off to the boys at NJ Vapes and the Vaper Vine near BWI. I had tossed around the idea of a VV/VW, but did not want the big box.

I did a little looking at the IPV Mini 3 70W and the eleaf 50W on-line. For about $50 I could buy an "OK" mech mod. For about $50-$60 I could buy the eleaf 50W, and for about $80-$90 the IPV Mini 3. My thought was the eleaf was 4400 mA battery, and the IPV was just using a 18650. The ones I have are efast 3500 mA, the eleaf was a better deal. So the eleaf is the switch and a battery for $60.

My guess is that the IPV might have better electronics and features, but all I want is watts up, watts down and FIRE! So, I bought the Eleaf from a B&M yesterday. $63. Not bad. I took my helios with a .5 build off my M16 tossed it on the eleaf out of the box. I cranked the watts to 35 and gave it a pull.
HOLY COW! Full smoke. Big flavor. HUGE cloud. What a difference. When I do the math, with a fully charged battery and .5 ohm build my mech mod is supposed to hit at 35 watts. The eleaf was a much different hit. The great thing is... the eleaf has MORE power! I cranked it up to 40 and gave it a pull! Then 45!#$@#$#@$#@. OK, I am not really into chasing clouds just trying to stop smoking but golly! Why the heck was I looking at another mech mod for? The switch on the eleaf is perfect. Hit it, and it fires with little effort. No need to lock it or worry about it firing when it is in your pocket.
The battery life is awesome! I started vaping on it yesterday @ 11:AM with my .5 build @ 30 watts. I switched to the kanger subtank with the .5 head (different story which I bought with the e-leaf) @ 3:pM. Today @ 2:30PM it flashed battery low. That's more than a day! So, I dripped about 7 ml of juice and then sucked another 15 a least with the kanger sub tank on one charge.... not bad!

I typically don't gush like this but I wanted to share. I actually thought of simply buying another eleaf 50W as my back-up! I did have an MVP 2 and a kanger pro tank last August (2014). I thought that was the "best". It didn't do it for me that is why I switched to drip. The subtank mini and the eleaf 50 is what I thought I was buying with the protank 2 and the MVP.
SO long mech mod!

Good choice on the iStick 50.

You meant the IPV Mini2. Ive had mine for about a week and I either love it or hate it. Mini is faulty it will jump up to 9ohms and fire super HHOT, then wont read the atty. Also atty dont sit flush. Wish I would of went with the iStick, i probably wwouldnt have to send.it back if I did. So now im back to mechs for 2 weeks while i wait.

Does the 50 have a nice hand feel like the Mini, cuz that was what sold md. If the the 50 fits nice ill prob pick it up. Can never have to many mods

I was off my mechs for a week or so because I just got my IPV Mini2, but had to send it back cuz no atty sat flush on it. Sucks even more because I just got a Big Dripper(meh) and an Orchid(nice) today and ordered them specifically for the IPV. The Orchid on my Smpl is simply beutiful and working like a champ, while the Big Dripper on my Penny is just so MEH.

Welcome Ace!

I have the iPV Mini and the Mini2. I do love both of them. I never got into mech mods, and it took me almost 9 months to try sub-ohmming. I just ordered the iStick 50 and my third Kanger Sub Nano (I have a couple of drippers and a couple of kayfun clones for building, but mostly use the Nanos and PT2s for my vaping enjoyment) The Mini 2 is not quite 100% flush, but it's not enough for me to get bent about.

Congrats on your new acquisitions :) I'm looking forward to trying out my iStick when it shows up on Monday!

So.. here is the update!
I have had the new deal for ten days.
With the subtank mini I can get a full day @ 22 watts. As a side note the sub coils last about 50ml of juice before I dont like the taste and switch it. NO leaks, gurgling, or anything like the protanks.

I can switch to my dripper with a .5 ohm coil and blast at like 40 watts for half a day or so.

GOSH only half a day or so. Well didn't do so I bought another istick 50W. I could not wait for the new IPV mini.

Another one (mech) bites the dust.

Me too. I have a few mechs lined up on my desk for dripping that are getting used less and less. Much prefer the ease and consistency of the box mod. I have 2 iStick30's among several others. Picked up a Kbox today and even with it's limited wattage adjustments it is light-years ahead of any of the mechs. Also a big fan of the Kanger Subtank. Paired with the iStick and a .5-ohm coil is the most compact, satisfying, hassle-free vape that I have enjoyed.

Not sure if you just glossed over other issues with the switch, but it sounds like routine maintenance is just not your thing....? That's okay too, but VV mods aren't nearly as easy to fix when things go wrong. Fixing a mech is almost always easy. But if for example you get a blue-screen of death on you VV mod, the advice you're likely to get is something like... try tapping it against your table then hop on your right foot in a clockwise circle for one full rotation. Power it up and try again.
