Hi peeps, im a first time vaper and this is my first tank setup... The juice im using is changing colour inside my tank, this is my first fill for the tank, im using an ego-t + CE4. The juice was very light yellow yesterday but as i started to vape it is turning darker and darker... now its as dark as coffee... its a china branded juice, which i dont know what the mix ratio is... is this normal?

What if it's actually abnormal but it just happens to all of us so we think it's "normal"? Hmmmm

Normal is quantitatively defined as failing within an arbitrarily set range. So if, in this instance, normal color-change is expected to go from clear to dark caramel, then no, this is not normal. However if normal is defined a going from clear to a deep mahogany ("That is MAHOGANY!" ), then this is normal.

What you really have to look at is WHY the color of the liquid is turning dark brown/black. Nicotine liquid gets darker when exposed to light, oxygen, and heat. So some darkening is to be expected. Add in flavors which typically contain colorings and sugar to some degree, will also darken the color. Combing all of that the fact that you're heating this mixture and you'll see additional darkening. Depending on the ingredients in your liquid, the heat your ecig produces, and the age of your liquid, you'll see natural variances in the end color after vaping for a while.

In short, yes, this is natural. Once it gets past a deep caramel color, I typically clean out the atty and start fresh. But I have very sensitive taste buds. It's a personal call in the end.

I don't know...I've had some juices taste ok when they turn dark and some turn to pure crap...just vape them and you'll know. In my experience, it just depends on the juice vendor.

My girlfriend doesn't vape much and her clearomizers always look like they are full of motor oil, but she happily vapes away on them. I've even tried her's and whatever she has in there tastes fine.

They actually are NOT to contain colorings and sugar

on topic:
yes it's quite normal and there is nothing to worry about. A liquid of mine used to be completely transparent and turned brown/black in 3month without exposing it to major sunlight and heat. it's fine. It just tastes better

Thanks for the replies, correct it went from light amber to deep mahogany within a day of vaping... my first flav was red apple... then i injected some mint juice, it became much more better and noticably sweeter... :)
I have another noooooob question.... how often do i need to clean my tank? Will the juice that im vaping be totally gone or will it become thick and gunk up? I can see that its depleting, but also it seems to be thicker.... i really need to learn more... uuurrrgggghhhhhh.... All the reading i've done here are always leading me to upgrades, DIYs and expert things... ha ha ha... Especially threads with pics in it! Im poisoned...

Hi Liquinator, is that what they call steeping? I dont really understand why steeping is required or what will steeping do to the mixture... If i wanted to mix 2 juices together for eg apple and mint, do i need to heat it up or just mix it and store it?

People are indifferent about steeping. Some say it's a must, some say it's not. However, that's mostly the case for DIY liquid. If you have two different juices simply mix them in a ratio you think it will be great. I do that all the time, mixing mentholjuice with whatever juice. The changing color could be due to the steeping process but I'm not a chemist either so I can only give you an answer based on my experience with juices. Going from that, no, it's nothing to worry about.

Huuurrrmmmmm.... after sitting down for the first time (in real! :p) with my juice vendor, he has explained some of the reasons that may contribute to the sudden colour change... at first he said that maybe i was a noob and i vaped too hard... too many hits at a go without leeting the wick re-wet before each hit... so the deep colours are actually burns... or the second reason would be the liquid quality itself.... so brought a sample bottle from him (custom mixed flavour, the mix ratio of my choice, the nic level of my choice - Peach Fuse + Menthol / 70PG - 30VG / 6mg + Sweetened ) and from the first hit, i knew that he will be my next best friend! Wakakakakakaka... now i know why some people could vape 6-8ml per day... but his juices didnt change colour even with my rapid hitting ninja technique! :) So i concluded that it was the juice that i got...
