I promise this started as just a review of my experience of the eGo-T Type A but it morphed into much more than I expected
. Hope it may help at least one new person out there!
I wanted a starter kit with everything I need to start vaping, including a second battery. Here was a simple checklist I made for myself of things I wanted in a PV and as a side note, while searching I did not want to include cost as a factor because that can always be worked out later.
Battery life Considering I wont leave the house without an extra pack of analogs, I dont want to be in the middle of nowhere with a PV or two that will only last me a few hours.
Solution Battery life depends on the mahs. Every 100 mah that your battery is rated is equal to approximately 1 hour of life. So a 650 mah battery will give you approximately 6.5 hours of use. I decided on 1000 mah minimum. As long as power is not out for more than two or three days at the house I would be good to go.
***Edit*** Battery life will also determine how versatile your device is, the estimate above where for every 100 mah is equal to approximately 1 hour of usage is based on a standard resistance Carto. As you start to branch out into things like Dual Coil and various other items to long to list here, this will vary.
Dependability Ok this one is a bit harder to figure out. As a new person to vaping, and wanted something that just works and works right every time is difficult to find. We HAVE to keep in mind that every part of our PV kit is meant to be disposable. That does not mean there are not PVs that wont last us a long time, but they are like our cars. As long as you do the proper maintenance you can far exceed the average lifespan of the devices. Other things I learned form EFC regarding this that helped me not make mistakes are to make sure you have a sealed battery, if not you run the risk of frying them if your e-juice happens to leek onto the connection portion. Plus a manual battery is more consistent and tends to last longer.
Solution A sealed manual battery
Simplicity Being new to this the last thing I wanted was to over complicate it. It seemed daunting to have to refill cartos, adjust wicks, do the magic dance, drip, ect ect.
Solution An easy to fill PV that that would hold enough e-juice to last me a while.
Adaptability Knowing I want to keep it simple to start but as most of us agree the simplest method is not always what works best for us. As a tinkerer I enjoy trying new and exciting things and that being said also knew that it would only be a matter of time before I wanted to start that process. Sure you can buy adapters but it appears that there are more items available for the 510 threading than the others. This is also a reason why you should get a higher rated battery.
Solution 510 threading, holds at least 1mil of e-juice.
Appearance and safety I normally wouldnt put these two items together but in this case it worked best for me to do so. I have children in the house the youngest being my 4 year old son/shadow. When I would go outside to smoke, he would sometimes come out and act like he was smoking as well (yes it is more than enough to break a fathers heart to see that). So I did not in any way shape or form want something that looked too much like an analog. I also did not want the light up tip because if he finds it amusing in any way he may be tempted to play with it. I also wanted some kind of way to shut it off so in case he did get to curious he couldnt take a hit.
Solution A PV with no tip light that can turn off, not replicate an analog
Now I knew what I basically wanted so I spent a lot of time on the boards and trusted vendors sites.
For me a Joyetech eGo-T Type-A starter kit met everything I wanted in a PV:
***Disclaimer***
This is the PV that I found to fit my needs; this does not mean it will fit yours. I see it all the time that in the forum that we ask the more experienced and knowledgeable people, What PV should I get? Dont get me wrong they are a wealth of knowledge but unfortunately it is not a one size fits all experience. Determine what is important to you then you can either find one that matches your needs or ask in the new member forum. If you list exactly what you need and/or looking for in a PV, Im positive one of the great and very helpful people on the boards can point you in the right direction.
I did select e-juice with mixed results but I will leave that for another post if this is received well.
Now on to the actual use:
I received my PV and with great anticipation as I opened the package and looked at it all in awe. So this is my salvation to a healthier, happier, and Lord willing longer life. It will help me do what I have been unable to do on my own. It was with difficulty that I picked up the directions and started to read. This alone was new to me as I dont think Ive read directions to anything in a very, very long time. But it told me how to fill the tank and the best way to insert it as well as the advice of rotating the tank once in place to make sure it is seated correctly. When filling you need to leave a small amount of air in the tank so the e-juice can flow correctly. I have to say the most difficult part was the first fill. You are supposed to pop off a little cap at the bottom of the tank to fill it the first time. After this task was completed I filled it with e-juice and placed the cap back on. Then screwed the atomizer onto the battery, pushed the tank on and gave it the required rotation. Now Im ready to take my first puff on my very own PV that was not a gas station purchase. I put the tip in my mouth, hit the button, take a big drag, and nothing!! Remember the nice little safety feature of an on/off option, well even after reading the directions I forgot to turn it on. I blame the excitement and still being in awe of the PV. So now I turn it on, hold the button and take a big old drag and it hit me in the through like a ton of bricks. Not a very pleasant feeling but it was a mix a several factors. I will mention that you need to relearn how to take it hit from you PV. As a further heads up for each different carto, cart, or tank that I have tried has required me to relearn how to hit it. Luckily it doesnt take long after the first time. Now Im getting good vapor, ok taste (more due to selected e-juice then the PV), and nicotine. Refilling the tanks is very easy, just make sure when you remove a tank to hold it battery side up. Then instead of removing the cap again I would just put more juice through the already punched hole. I would blow out and wipe down the atomizer and wipe the battery down. I would rotate the atomizers daily, which was not the best idea in hindsight. You can get a good week or two out of the atomizer before it needs a thorough cleaning; Im just not to the point of wanting to do that yet. I have not had a single leaking issue in the two weeks Ive been vaping. A filled tank last quite awhile and was extremely easy to see when you were running low and should add more. So this PV in my opinion has far exceeded my expectations.
Thank you for reading and your patience, I just imagine all the TLDR comments. Happy vaping everyone
