The ones you threw out, how was the coil positioned on them? I have found that the tighter the coil on adequate wicking makes the cartos work like champs. The loser the coil seems to create more problems.
With that I would definitely have to agree 100%: Coil contact with anything except wick, juice and air would be a major fault.
Except at the contacts, of course.

They were more inconsistent than my first ten in every manner. The coil & wick was buggered up in some way in all of them. I tightened the coil, centered them on the wick, and centered the wicks on the tube. That takes a lot of care and time with a loupe, fine tweezers, and a needle. Three were usable, but my wife just said her cowboy menthol went acidic this morning. I can get rid of bad taste by removing the adhesive and trimming the silicone sleeve if that's not enough, but not the acidic failure.
She says when they're bad, end of story, and not going to let me play with her health. I've almost reached the same point for myself, but they're so damn good when they work...
cryx, which is why this research is so very important. I do not want to play with anyones health or well being, mine included. But, if we can get to the root/s of the problem then we just may get an exceptional product. For me it is worth the time and expense involved.
What is the PG/VG mix your/your wife use?
Could the acidic taste be acrolein? I am not looking for problems, but looking for solutions.
We use V4L wow juices. In this case, she uses V4L cowboy menthol which I think is 100% PG. It's clear and very runny. This liquid is also in the longest running carto still in use from my original order. It's probably seen 10-15ml. However, a carto from your pack lasted 1.5 days...
I saw that chemical mentioned a few times but never looked that up. Ick, so I might be subjecting myself to tear gas. I find this quote from wikipedia to be interesting: "Acrolein tends to polymerize when left at room temperature, leaving a gummy yellowish residue with a putrid odor". I've noticed very sticky yellow stuff around the hole in the soft cap, which I thought was odd for clear liquids, but never thought much of it... I fill multiple cartos at the same time, so the caps never make it back on the same carto, so I can't tell if there's a correlation between yellowing and cartos that went bad.
The 100% PG should not produce acrolein, it is the VG that can be polymerized into it. Which is why I asked about the PG/VG blend. So, the acidic condition is not acrolein.
V4L doesn't publish their mixtures, so are all their non-VG liquids 100% PG? Some of the other liquids seems thicker, generally in proportion to their color.

I can't remember if they ever mentioned it in the forum. I'm thinking I remember something like the premium or nobacco is 100% pg, the Wow is a blend (like 80/20 or 90/10). But I could be mistaken.
