My most recent mod. ~Copper~

So yea, here it is! I had alot of fun with this one. Think it might be my favorite so far. Only been using it for about 5 hours, but it has good TH and vapor.

This mod runs on a single TrustFire 18650 2500mAh battery
808 connector (My 510 attys are all dead) I do like the 808 cartos.
I used the KA378R05 5v 3 amp reg from MV LDO 5 volt, 3.0 amp regulator with control pin!
300g tactile switch from MV Tactile Switch with Round actuator, 300g.
I salvaged my batt terminals from a 4xD batt box from RS. (I wanted to be sure to have a good connection.

I haven't filled the inside with a glue/epoxy yet. I want to wait a couple days to be sure I won't have any issues. The Heatshrink is a bit of a mess but it does its job.

Very nice copper mod, I was wondering how you are able to fit all the stuff in the tube.

not trying to rain on a beautiful mod, but that regulator is for bringing voltage down to five volts. if you run two 18350 batteries you will see this mod shine. as long as you have it wired correctly. not sure how it is running at all with only a 3.7 volt battery trying to push thru that chip.

Nice looking mod. If I understand correctly you are using a single 18650(?) and a 4 pin linear regulator as a switch(?)

yes I am using the 4 pin with a single 18650 atm. I didn't know if it would work properly. I like the switch I had and needed something to protect it, seems to be working well. Not sure what v i am running at the atty but it is very satisfying(ain't broke). I will be buying a few 18350s later this week to give the full 5v a shot (what the reg is meant for).

Refer to the link for the regulator I gave for madvapes. In the last line of the item description it says it will work for a 3.7v mod w/ tactile switch. Not sure about the specs but I think these just keep more than 5v from passing through. Not limiting anything until your input is higher than the rating of reg. So far they were correct.

I built one of these(copper) as a 5v with the board and the 1g tact switch. I use 2 18350's or 1 18650. Works great!

5 amp 4 pin regulator is a good device. There will be a few tenths of a volt lost but it will actually work down to about 3 volts input. The 2.7 volts you get out probably won't vape but that would be to low for a mod with a manual switch anyway.

At 3.2 to 3.5 volts (loaded output ) is will power just about any atty as well as an eGo (3.2 volts) so it will obviously work.

An eGo satisfies many people, so this should also. Cheap easy way to do it. Still a nice looking mod.

@Robert thanks! how do you like the 18350's? I haven't even bought any yet. Only 10440,14500,18650 for me so far.

@Rocketman thanks for the info on that, I am not sure how to test for loaded output.. probably super simple I just haven't cared enough to check yet tbh lol I am pretty easy to please I guess how do you go about testing loaded output? or I could search I suppose.

open up the top and put a voltmeter directly to both the center pin and shell of your connector. Put on the carto of your choice, and FIRE.

Volts at the connector, under load.

so.... went to check for my loaded output but I can't on this on XD I forgot I had used some heatshrink on the positive post of the connector all the way up to the base. I wasn't quite sure where everything would come to rest inside the top so I did that so I wouldn't short out. Oh well.. I am pleased with it for now.

One of the '350's I have has a sensitive protection circuit and will sometime shut down if I use a dual coil on it but doesn't happen often. Other than that I like it at 5v.

sigh... after such a short time together my copper has found a new home. At the bottom of the Pacific ocean! Dropped it overboard while doing some Halibut fishing. lol I loved that thing oh well.. I will just make a new one! gives me something to do.

All wasn't lost tho! did catch several nice halibut! and of course a nice buzz

Sorry to hear of your loss, did it explode? Apparently Li-on's do that when shorted in water, which *could* help with the fishing.

I wouldn't know how its doin' we were anchored out at about 200' I leaned over the edge of the boat to rinse off some of the slime from my recent catch, then the PV just slipped out of my breast pocket and down into the deep. xD
I probably wouldn't have tried to use the batt if I could have retrieved from the water. Not worth the risk of having it explode on me. Just got paid today so this just gives me an excuse to place an order at MV or something

Sorry about the Pacific. Just a thought on a remake. Maybe a lead from the center post to the surface somewhere so you might measure loaded voltage easily. Would, of course, have to be isolated from body perhaps making the effort too complicated and not worth the effort. But maybe the contact at surface could be a metal loop of some type that could double as a lanyard anchor that could be used on fishing trips.
