First of all, hello! First post here! I've been lurking for a week now, and I think this forum is fantastic.
Like many of you, my first exposure to vaping was disposables. Eh. I saw some potential there, but the darn things just aren't powerful enough to satisfy a pack-a-dayer like me. I dropped some cash on the Blu starter kit, thinking I could recharge the battery and replace the cart when needed, but that didn't work out too well either. The thing would die when I needed it most (i.e. while driving). It would annoyingly decide on its own that I was vaping too much and not allow another hit when I wanted it (blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, you nicotine fiend, you!). For me, the widely-available Cigalikes were more frustrating than anything.
Since it was generally well-spoken of on this forum, I ordered a Halo Triton last week. It arrived on Saturday. After a few hits, I threw away the rest of my analogs.
WoW! There's that potential finally realized! I was totally impressed, and I've been shouting the merits of vaping over smoking from the rooftops. Two smoker friends of mine have already ordered vapes, after seeing mine and listening to my well-rehearsed speech. I haven't touched tobacco since getting my vape on.
My sense of smell is back, and my cough is gone. My wife is thrilled. We have a three-year-old daughter, and I hated smelling like smoke and exposing her to toxic chemicals via my clothes and skin. I feel great. And the switch to vapor was nearly effortless for me. I don't feel at all like I've "given anything up".
I work as a programmer/developer/systems analyst. I can't tell you how many technical problems I've solved while smoking alone outside, or bouncing some ideas off my "smoking buddies". This is one more thing I haven't had to abandon.
I'm already eyeing some upgraded hardware, although I'll probably maintain the Triton for the time being. I went to Avail Vapor in Carytown on Sunday, and bought some eliquids after sampling them on their tasting wall - Blueberry, Dirty Bananna, and Captain's Cut. Hello vapor heaven!
Thanks for reading this.
