Today I finished the final bits on my first wooden box mod, with advice from a wonderful gentleman/artist who did showed me how to do some fancy stuff with wood and brass to help me get a nice box for once :)

Im interested on what people think of it, as Im just starting out on the modding adventure :)

This is an 18350 mod, with a hinged door for changing batteries. Atty is a cheap rebuildable - the only brass coloured atty I have, so now it has a home :)

Now on to some piccies for you to ogle at :)

Let me know what you think :)

More of Chris normal art can be seen here if you are interested:- Wood Art Works : WAW Home as I have to give credit for the work he put in. I just helped with the concept and electrics. He is now considering becoming a vaper himself :)

poland, and the brassy lands of google
Beautiful mod ghoti. I'd guess the stationary bottom plate has the screw running to the switch leg, and the positive contacts the bottom plate door. Up inside is a negative spring for tension on the batt and the door.

I think you can get a drip shield in brass too like from Empire. Have you seen daras25's mods? Brass and wood are a nice combination. :)

Well guessed! :)

The battery goes in upside down (neg at the top) - there is a spring in there, and the top plate is negative - which saves any wires going to the ego connector I used. The bottom plate is positive, and there is a pin in the bottom plate which is connected to the switch via wire.

I like the look of this, and I reckon if victorians had vaped, they would use something like this :)

Im looking to possibly rehouse my gripper VV in a mrass/wood box as well hopefully at soe point in the future - I do like the operation, but hate how plastic and loose it all is.

Biggest problem I have found so far is finding some nice high rated brass buttons here in the UK :( Guess Im going to have to learn to use google properly ;)

Ghoti, congratulations on a strikingly beautiful mod!
I just simply love the shape, it flows as if the wood were still alive on the tree.
As I understand it, the brass caps are at battery potential at all times, correct?
If so, you'd have to be very mindful of laying it on its side on any metal surfaces!

P1NkY - bloody good point - I had never thought of that! Dont see it as much of a problem as I mainly keep that one for home, and only wooden surfaces there, and I use it with a Vivi Nova tank a lot - so I tend to never lay my mods on the side anyway. But thanks for pointing it out, something I definatly need to take into consideration if I do any more of them, and another reason why Im glad I joined this forum - I get a second opinion to help me think better :D

Thanks for your kind words re the shape though!
