I've cross posted this to a couple different places, I wanted to share it here as well

Today is the 1 month anniversary since I smoked my last cigarette!
A little over a month ago I talked to my husband about wanting to quit smoking before I hit my 30th birthday. He wasn’t overly crazy about the idea and I started looking into other options, knowing I wouldn’t be successful quitting smoking cigarettes if I was still living with a smoker. We had been rolling our own cigarettes with a Top-o-matic rolling machine for several years prior to this endeavor. As a side note we have never smoked in our home, even before our now 3.5 year old son was a thought in our minds. I stumbled upon e-cigarettes and started doing research; I found a fantastic forum full of tons of very supportive people, www.e-cigarette-forum.com and started asking questions. Everyone was so helpful and never gave me a hard time for asking the same questions that every newbie asks.
We started off by buying disposable cig-a-likes and quickly found that they would not meet our needs. My goal being to leave analog cigarettes behind us and move onto to a healthier option. Researching more we decided to go with a Halo Triton kit, a few days later it came in the mail. It was a little bit of a struggle at first. I wasn’t sure we had made a good investment because the vapor was very different than smoking cigarettes and it took about two days before I finally figured out how to inhale the vapor properly without coughing. A day after that my Vision Spinner Rainbow 1300mAh battery came along with a Kangertech Mini Protank 2. From there there has been absolutely no looking back.
Alone sat our Top-o-matic, tobacco and even rolled cigarettes. After a week or so we decided to sell it. We had no desire to light up that burning stick of vegetable matter. Now it’s interesting to me that people consider nicotine to be the addictive substance in cigarettes, and you wouldn’t be wrong. Both Denney and I went through withdraws around 3 days after quitting smoking analogs. Not anything compared to what I had gone through while trying to quit smoking in the past, but none the less still withdraws. Still using our e-cigarettes, otherwise known as a personal vaporizer (PV for short from here on out), we were getting the nicotine that we craved. What other yuckity yuck chemicals had kept us so closely drawn to cigarettes? Slowly killing ourselves year after year. Did I mention I smoked for 16 years prior to taking the leap into e-cigarettes? I realized I had smoked cigarettes longer in my life than I hadn’t. It was a sad realization as I don’t consider myself to be that old at 29, for that matter I’ve got an entire life ahead of me yet! And thankfully even more years after our recent lifestyle change!!
We’ve had lot of fun in the last month, trying new flavors, meeting amazing people who just wanted to help us succeed, buying new toys to vape with. The whole experience has been one of positivity and enlightenment. When I walk by someone smoking a cigarette it makes me wonder, why anyone would WANT to do that? Definitely why when I can now taste flavors like Vanilla Crème Custard, or Blueberry Cupcake, Coffees as much as you can imagine, tobacco flavors, fruity flavors, if you can think it someone out there makes an e-juice of that flavor!
So what changed have I experienced in my body in the last month? Some pretty interesting things actually, things that you would expect and also things you wouldn’t expect I’ve experienced. Well the things you would expect first. My sense of smell has come back, it’s amazing! My teeth are noticeably, to me at least, whiter. My chest feels lighter, no more of that common tightness and pain I experienced before. I can take deep breaths now without wheezing! My voice has changed somewhat. No more smokers cough! Some of the things I’ve experienced that I didn’t expect? A substantial increase in my energy levels. My mood is consistently better, quite a noticeable difference actually. I sleep better at night. I lost almost 8 pounds in the last month, who would of thunk it?! It’s also given my husband and me something else that we can share together, learn about together and enjoy doing together.
Do I miss smoking analog cigarettes? Not even a little bit! Do I love this alternative that we found to smoking analog cigarettes? Absolutely! We also have the ability to slowly lower the mg of nicotine that our e-juices contain, my goal working down to 0mg nicotine at some point. I’m grateful to whoever invented the electronic cigarette! They’ve given us a better quality of life and a longer life because of it. I want to shout it from the rooftops! I want to help people that are struggling with something they don’t really enjoy doing to find a fantastic alternative like so many people helped us while we were starting our journey. ;);)

I am at one month and a day. Wouldn't go back to smoking for anything. All the things you posted are the same for me. And I now can carry my two small, elderly dogs upstairs to bed without huffing and puffing, and the morning stuffed up ear and huge bag under my eye that took half the day to go away are no more. I smoked for most of my adult life--almost 50 years. First time I vaped on a little Green Smoke e-cig I knew I was done with the cigs and once I got a decent setup (itaste VV3.0) with all the wonderful flavors of juice out there I was truly in love with vaping. Lucky us to have found vaping, to say nothing of finding this great forum filled with helpful, supportive people. :toast:

Congratulations you two 1 monthers. I do feel compelled to warn you though, you are not out of the woods yet. It is fairly common to have one more set of withdrawal symptoms around the 3 month mark. It could come a bit sooner or a bit later but just be prepared. Have plenty of supplies so you don't run out and push through that and you will be home free. Good luck.

I almost went through a bit of panicky feeling over the first couple weeks. Afraid of having something happen that would not allow me to vape. By the end of this week my stash week consist of well over 300ml and three full pvs. I have 9 unused coils and we have everything we need for rebuilding. Barring an apocalypse I won't get into a situation that I won't be able to vape. This is not including my husband's stuff.

Awesome story, and congrats! Like someone else said, hearing these never gets old...

Great that your husband supports you too - I could have never quit if my wife still smoked, and she feels the same about me - but getting to go down the path together is awesome, even if we were a few months late on the same "we'll quit by the time we're 30" plan you had.
